Games That Defined The Sega Saturn

While the Saturn may have failed commercially in comparison to the Sony Playstation, it had a very solid game selection including some very unique titles that made Sega stand out in the 1990's.

The Saturn may have been inferior to the Playstation in terms of 3D power, but the Saturn is still one of the best platforms for 2D action and unique games.

The goal of this list is to identify the best exclusive Sega Saturn games, but if you would like to share your favorites, please feel to post a comment below.

Panzer Dragoon games, House of The Dead, Guardian Heroes and NiGHTS into Dreams. Those games are THE classics. Hope they bring back Panzer Dragoon one day.
Great find and article.

Was HOTD on the Saturn? I never knew... they had the Panzer sequel for the first XBOX... Not sure if it was any good. Another panzer could be great... or they could mess it up like Sonic... Either way I'd buy it to see for myself.

Edit: here is the xbox one.

Didn't know about the Xbox sequel. Let's hope that they don't indeed mess it up like Sonic.

Definitely Panzer Dragoon Saga. That was by far one of the best games I have ever played in my life. Clockwork Nights was a fun game too. The Xbox sequel was okay, but compared to the Games before it, it was nowhere close. Still a decent game though.

and this is why you must support the brand of gaming you enjoy instead of stupidly following the idiotic line of "I don't play consoles, I play games and I don't care about sales as long as I have games"

Well ding-bats, you can't have a brand type of gaming without a the brand console and you can't play games if the console flops.

You know how many Sega DC fans would love to have had Sega doing consoles now and the unique games they could have been playing with that brand in this current gen?

This is why Sony's fanbase are so loyal and show support so strongly cause we know if MS and it's fanbase had their way our type of gaming would virtually cease to exsist.

But this aint gonna happen - VIVA LA PLAYSTATION!!! XD

Not sure I agree with your there Chubear...

I loved both the Saturn and Dreamcast, but Sega made some really bad choices, either with hardware design, timing of release, or gaining 3rd party support.

Sega made the bold and brave move to become a publisher/developer only and now they can bring their brand of games to whichever console they feel works best for a particular IP.

In many ways Sega are no longer restricted by their own platform limitations.

If there was only ONE brand of console we'd still get the same games... whether it was a Sony, Sega, Nintendo or Microsoft.

I'd be really interested to hear your views on the following statement you made '...cause we know if MS and it's fanbase had their way our type of gaming would virtually cease to exsist'.

nostalgia for saturn or dreamcast can be found in bargain bins. Sonic needs a multiplat savior bad. After what Sega did with anti-Nintendo ads (one had snes in a physical mortuary) they deserved to lose to snes and ever since. Bad Karma follows the brand.
