Modern Warfare 3 Dev Agrees Final Stand is “Frustrating” But It’s a Compromise

MP1st - Last Stand. A perk that all Call of Duty players love to hate. While Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games did exclude it from their latest title, Modern Warfare 3, the same can’t be said for it’s little brother, Final Stand, which lingered on in the form of a Deathstreak. Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist, shares his thoughts. (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

didnt that idiot bowling say at some game events prior to mw3s release that there would be NO LAST STAND! you guy's are bellends that don't deserve my money or anyone elses

Well in all fairness he wasn't lying haha. However its still annoying regardless of what form its in.

He said LAST stand not FINAL stand.

But essencialy its the same thing so wtf they were thinking.

Except now they've gone and given them C4 too with a blast radius of a nuclear bomb

HE did in fact say that lol so he changed the name to final stand haha.... but for real my thoughts on this are look in black ops when ppl used last stand u know within the start of the game and can be like ok i got to keep shooting at these guys cuz they running last stand.. now my problem with final stand is u have no idea when its going to happen u can be playing 7min then sum1 automatically falls into it and ur not even expecting it its straight BS. and it always happens when im on a killstreak and the fact they get to keep there damn primary!!

Being a "hardcore gamer" (if you'd like to use that term) the idea of last stand just annoys me, personally i dont think bad players should be rewarded for being rubbish at the game.... now i know activision have tried to make all the newer CODs more "NOOB" friendly.... but why not simply just impliment a skill system or something.. where good players get matched with good and poor with poor...... simples right?

And this is unrelated but is it just me or is anyone else looking forward to CS:GO next month? :P
vallencer  +   476d ago
I completely agree. Or in the least just make a playlist without that stupid perk.
Dropdeadll  +   476d ago
Do you know when CS:GO releases.. sometime in March?
ThatDamnGeordie  +   476d ago
i read somewhere it was around 15th or 16th for console..... not completely sure tho.

CS:GO coming out next month, really?

yes.

Sorry but that mentality is completely wrong, and should in fact be the opposite. Players who're doing well should NOT be rewarded - they're already doing well, why do they need something to dominate even more. Players doing poorly however could use a little boost to get back on their feet - noone enjoys getting absolutely slammed.

i can agree with that i guess, things such as killstreaks can be pretty overpowering and make some people feel slightly dominated, but i dont agree with adding things into the game that help out bad players.... i guess i just look at it from a hardcore gamers point of view which is a bit biased.

Like i said tho, if a real proper skill system was added into the game it would sort all the problems out really, maybe it could be based on a tier system for example: tier 1 = bad players up to say.. tier 5 which are the good players.... you're teir could depend on factors such as accuracy, KDR, WLR etc, so if say for example a tier 1 player stats winning more games and becoming more accurate he moves up to tier 2 and if he starts playing worse he moves back down to 1.... thus keeping an even playing field.

So... What would be the point in learning how to play well?
Veni Vidi Vici  +   476d ago
If they want to even it out a little they should make it dependent on where you're shot. If you're shot in the legs or arms, you can go into final stand. If you're shot in the lower torso, you go into last stand where you live for a few seconds but then die(can't get back up like with final stand). If you get shot in the head or upper torso you don't get any type of final stand. You just die immediately.

This adds a counter for the good players. If you're good and don't like people using the perk, just shoot them in the head or upper torso and you don't have to worry about it.

Of course, with as horrible as the hit boxes are in that game, I seriously doubt they could implement this sort of thing. Heck, they're not creative enough to even think of something like that so you know it'll never happen.

You really think MW3's hit detection would be able to handle that? :P

Robert Bowling is such a tool, all he does is apologize for the game being shit.

The most frustrating part is it disrupts your flow of the game. You're doing a solid seamless strategy killing enemies in succession and then wham! a C4 exploded near you (dead man's hand). There goes your killstreak from a cheap game aided kill.

If they're going to put in final stand don't give them a weapon.
