It never fails; a big game is on the way, heavily promoted by the publisher and the media. But wait, instead of dishing out the already steep sixty dollars for the game itself, why not spend a hundred dollars or more to get a few extra useless paraphernalia, or some mediocre in-game exclusives.

Seriously it's like the only people who hate CE are the ones who can't afford them but it's not like they are making you buy them. CE are just an option for die hard fans.
"If you're crying out, "Yes!" right now, then let me ask you why you need those extra collector's edition gifts right away. Is it for bragging rights, so you can flaunt your exclusive prizes in front of your friends who've only purchased the base game? Most could care less about your toys—they're still playing the same game—and now you've been demoted to the sucker of the group."
Why do I need them.......lets see, well maybe it's because that you can't predict which CE aren't going to go out of stock, people don't want to miss there chances of buying one. I had a friend who put off buying the Resistance 3 Survivor edition because he thought Gamestation would still have them in stock later at a lower price and guess what, they went out of stock and never got them in again. It just depends on how lucky you are, some CE go out of stock really quick while others don't because the retailer might of ordered too many, it just depends on how lucky you are and what retailers are around your area.
Besides some CE could be worth something in the future, I sold the Codex Book which was a part of the Assassins Creed Brotherhood CE for £67 and that was one item in the CE....JUST ONE, plus it was only 4 months after it had came out. Over the years when the "brand new" copies get sold and even the ones which are being sold now, as long as you keepm you CE in good condition then you could sell it for double the price in the future.
Sucker group.......no, just a part of the group who are enjoying what they've sepnt there money on.
