How the internet has damaged gaming forever

XBIGY games takes a look at how the internet has changed gaming forever. (Culture, Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Halo 2, Mass Effect 2)

I love your article. I agree 100%

Thanks! The main one that annoys me is knowing everything about games. I know that's an odd thing for a journalist to say, but I do miss that 'mystery' you used to get with new games.

No disrespect... But couldn't you just, I dunno, NOT read every little update that is released about a new game you're looking forward to?

@nitrox, it isn't just a case of reading everything that comes out or skipping videos. Back in the day i wouldn't know anything about a game and you'd have to find out by talking to friends ect. Some of this is due to being s child and not having choice, but now it can be hard to avoid reading news about a game through headlines.

Final Fnatsy VI, could you really play as General Leo??? Did Shadow have more dreams than 5???
Looks at the internet: No and no......
Finding another game to play in disappointment...

The truth is not for yourself to find.

The internet hasn't ruined gaming
It's the people who use it - which usually turns them into, "Net ganstas."

Let me guess. The conclusion of your article is available for $3.99, right? A little trick you picked up after playing Prince of Persia, sell the ending separately?
Don't leave your readers searching the page for more article.

1. Tell them what you're going to tell them.
2. Tell them
3. Tell them what you told them.

It's not that hard.

On topic: the only bit that bugs me is patches; there were 11 for LBP when I bought it, and the Move patch for Heavy Rain was about the same size as an episode of Qore. But, I can deal with it if they make the game run better or add a feature or two.

"When I was in school the only way of getting the latest news on gaming was buying a good ol’ fashioned magazine."
Yup, I agree with the guy who wrote this article. I hate now how you pay for a game you download and you still need the internet to play the game..if you don't the game will turn into the demo version of it. I HATE ONLINE EVERYTHING NOW! IT SUCKS! Charging people money for stuff we just unlocked the old-fashioned way back in the day before the PS3/360...WTF is going on!? We pay for unlockable content now and the only thing we unlock today in videogames are some achievement saying I killed a hundred dudes in a row.

I'm so sick of people using the argument that multiplayer gaming is ruining single player gaming. If a game seems to have more focus on multiplayer and does it well, while the single player seems bland and uninspired, then its a multiplayer game. It should be taken as such then.

There is a difference between these two modes, would you rather each game be ONLY single player or ONLY multiplayer? You would probably end up bitching about that too.

Truth is there are still plenty of great single player focused games out there, so play those and quit whining that your new online game sucks offline.

most people say that when a single player game then gets multi-player and the single player side gets the shaft. the game was great before it added multi-player and now that it did the single-player its bland. i dont have a problem with games that have great multi-player and sub par single player from their release. but when they go from having a great single player and add multi-player, while losing focus on the single player aspect is what bothers me.

I get what you're saying, and I totally agree that some games shouldn't try to add online play just for the sake of having it. But in the end, it was a poor decision on the part of the developer and the result is crap.

There are games that find a balance, so it's not the fact that the multiplayer functionality has ruined the game, it was the developer.

There are good games, and there are bad games, plain and simple... It's not a case of single player vs multiplayer...
