Review:- Binary Domain [newbreview.com]

The declining popularity of Japanese videogames and their perceived inability to compete with the thrills of their foreign competition has been an increasingly pressing topic over the last few years. Japanese games, the story goes, are hide-bound, traditionalist and lacking in the thrill factor of foreign action titles. Yes it has. A ridiculous one

No real gamer believes that

Japan has smoked the west in basically every genre but shooter, sandbox

platformer, action adventure, rpg, sport, puzzle, fighting, ext belong to japan

What exactly constitutes a "true gamer"? I really dislike that therm because there's an implication that if you enjoy anything other than hardcore games you're not a proper gamer.

I've been playing games for nearly 25 years now and have owned pretty much every console going. I play almost every major release on the consoles and still find time to play games on my phone, my iPad, Move, Kinect, and even - gasp - enjoy the odd Wii game.

Who sounds like more of a "true gamer", someone that only enjoys niche titles or someone that can play and enjoy pretty much anything out there?

In my view so long as you are regularly playing games of any sort you are a gamer.
