Dillon's Rolling Western Review (Modojo)

Chris Buffa (Modojo): Even the biggest Nintendo hater has to admit the 3DS eShop is on a roll, with quality titles like VVVVVV, Mighty Switch Force! and Pushmo. It appeared Dillon's Rolling Western would join this highly regarded group, but sadly, this latest experiment is all over the place, unfair and mind-numbingly repetitive.

Funny to me this game just came out today Nintendo stated it would take 20 hours at least to finish yet we got a review.

Honestly this was the only eShop game I was pumped for, it's a shame that it didnt turn out well

"Funny to me this game just came out today Nintendo stated it would take 20 hours at least to finish yet we got a review."

Reviewers get games a good couple weeks before they release to the general public -- sometimes as much as a month earlier.

Yes retail games not downloadable games. Am i right about that?

Ulf4442d ago (Edited 4442d ago )

@2EHO

Nope. Reviewers get early access to downloadable titles as well. A long time, even, before launch. Review embargos are the only thing that prevents most reviews from hitting the street a good two weeks before any game launches.

Games are typically finished at least 6 weeks before launch, because it takes that long to manufacture and ship/distribute the titles to retail. Even downloadable titles take some time to validate the digital packaging, so they are potentially ready for reviewer submission weeks before hitting the online market.

Often a game will be at a testing stage where the only remaining bugs are localization (foreign language) related. During this period, if a correct-language build is available without these typos, grammar errors, etc., it can be sent off for review, despite the fact that it will be a good month (or more, if it needs physical manufacturing) before the title is available to the general public.

Lies! Lies and slander! The game is fun

axisofweevils4444d ago

IGN gave it 8/10

Just saying...

Hicken4444d ago

modojo (particularly Buffa) seems to be keen on giving abnormally low scores to things. I guess they think it makes them cool... or something.

What do you need to know about Dillon's series?

A Nintendo franchise is making a comeback after a brief hiatus. The Dillon series is continuing with Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers. But here is the thing: Dillon is not really a household name. Even though he has two games under his belt and made a cameo in Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS and Wii U, people might not know who he is or what to expect.

I liked the first Dillion's ALOT. Pretty cool assist trophy. Have yet to purchase the 2nd Dillion's. Too much other to play right now, but maybe someday!

2 games just 2 games in the horizon of a console. This is a debacle for nintendo and the gaming industry.

Nintendo needs to reinvent themselves ASAP!

please nintendo do not forget to remove the "wii" from the name of your next console.

MNGamer-N3644d ago (Edited 3644d ago )

You won't buy the next one either so don't bother with your useless comments.

leahcim3644d ago

you are wrong I absolutely will buy it.

If its packed with a :

new metroid
new zelda
new mario (miyamoto)
new the Last Story
new kirby (ultra HD)
new Kid Ikarus (my god what an awesome piece of gaming)
new fire emblem

When I first saw that game (the 3DSware one) I imagined the character or the game referenced in the new Smash Bros and face palmed since the game looks bad.
The more content the better though, I suppose.

Sgt_Slaughter3644d ago

That looks pretty awesome!

Now what I wanted them to do, but pretty late in the game now, is to have 2-4 exclusive characters to each platform.

Think of it as Mario Golf/Tennis 64, where when you connected the portable version to the console, the characters got unlocked on the console to be playable. Would give a little more incentive to owning both versions.
