Turn, shoot, die; the good gents behind the new first-person shooter, Nexuiz, resurrects the genre made famous by other classic shooters such as Unreal Tournament and Quake. Far from retreading old ground, this downloadable title takes a fresh look at the “think fast on your feet” shooter by opening up the old mechanics to some new twists and making it look gorgeous at the same time. Fear not, fans of the twitch. At its heart, Nexuiz throws you into the action and running for your life.
Nexuiz launched as a PC and console game 10 years ago, but the downfall of THQ lead to problems for the inspirational title.
Remember Nexuiz, the arena first-person shooter pulled from Steam three years ago after publisher THQ went bust? It's back.
Developer IllFonic has self-published the game on Steam, where it costs £7.99 (it's £3.99 until 22nd March).
Didn't get around to playing it until after the community died. Great to see it back.
The aftershock of THQ's dissolution continues, as servers for the Xbox 360 version of Nexuiz have been shut down. Developer Illfonic announced the news on its Facebook page, noting that the servers were being run by THQ and "cannot be maintained anymore." The PC servers, however, will remain online courtesy of Illfonic itself.
That's a shame, I loved this game but guess I won't be able to complete the achievements now.
I am very interested in something new for a FPS. Wondering what others think of this title?
looks fun to me. hopefully the mutators don't ruin it
