In a recent interview Ed Boon confessed that the 3G support will be gone for good in the VITA version of Mortal Kombat.
3G is not made for online gaming, we really think people who are expecting it to be the same type of experience as at home on broadband will be very dissapointed.
Trevor Walker said: Fighting games have always been able to simultaneously experiment and innovate while staying true to their roots in the best of ways. Mechanics change, crossovers take place, and evolution occurs. One of the best examples of all three can be seen in the coveted guest character.
The fighting genre is full of mini-games, from Street Fighter's car destruction to Tekken Ball. Here's the best Mortal Kombat mini games.
Cultured Vultures: We've gone to the trouble of ranking the Mortal Kombat games across the series' history. Special Forces is clearly number one.
My favorite is always going to be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I know some people didn't like the addition of the run button. But, man that game is burned into my memory from childhood, lol.
MK2 will always be the best in the series. Been playing a lot of MK1 lately though. Definitely enjoying it more than any other NRS era MK game.
I will always have a special place in my memory for MK 1 and 2. You had to be there during that era at the arcades. Martial arts tournament fighting movies were still popular, and MK 1 was exciting. Real life motion captured characters done well (unlike Pit Fighter). A cast of characters we all liked like Bruce Lee(Lui Kang), Van Damme(Johnny Cage), the Lightning god(Raiden) from Big Trouble in Little China, and Ninjas, gotta have Ninjas. Goro was menacing as hell. The MK arcade had some of the best speakers similar to Killer Instinct as you could hear the loud crisp and bassy sound that was distinctly different than other arcades. MK 2 improved greatly on the controls and fighting mechanics
This is quite possibly my most Anticipated game on the VITA.
Can wait for it to come sooner.
Hope we see Twisted Metal and a good JRPG soon on the Vita.
Namco Bandai, please localize Tales of Innocence R.
It's a misleading title, not at the intention of the writer(I hope.)
3G is not made for gaming. Only real games that support this on iOS are simple titles like Words with Friends, and such.
But I think what the Vita adds really makes this a great package. It's running 60 frames. It has AR backgrounds, 150+ new challenges, Vita only mini games, online gameplay, and more. It's definitely the best looking fighter coming to the Vita this first half of the year.
A more complete version of probably the most complete fighter of last year is always a good thing, and considering they're attempting to use a lot of the exclusive functionality of the PlayStation Vita, it is definitely worth looking into.
3G would be a detriment to anyone who used it, it should be left out. Anyone who's tried to game on 3G will tell you it's useless, the quality of service just isn't there. 3G data rates ebb and flow far too much, there's no consistency to ensure a steady response time.
Essentially, 3G is not good enough communications for applications that require real-time response to within even a second, let alone 1/30th or 1/60th of a second.
Seriously. 3G would be useless. Lol. I honestly still don't know why Sony is even releasing a 3G version. Netflix and web browsing on the go? We already have that on our phones...
