PlayStation Vita going for £196 as Asda kicks off supermarket price war

Asda has revealed its in-store price for PlayStation Vita, knocking a cheeky £30 off the RRP of Sony's upcoming handheld. (ASDA, Industry, PS Vita)

It seems like a fair price, but remember you basically require a memory card - not included - and probably a game.

The deal-powers that be have deemed this deal "not as good" as the deals from Play and Amazon.
deep_fried_bum_cake  +   1171d ago
Have you even looked at Play and Amazon? It is better than them.
peeps  +   1171d ago
for just the console...

Asda:
Console - £196.98
Uncharted - £37.97
8GB card - £27
Total= £261.95

Play:
Console - bundle deal
Uncharted - bundle deal
8GB card - bundle deal
Total = £242.99

The prices used for the Asda example are the price Asda is currently selling the console, game and card at, you may be able to get these cheaper elsewhere but it does seem they are the cheapest prices going.

peeps

The bundles didn't show up for me when I looked at play the first time which makes me wonder what the hell I typed into the search bar.

Jesus H Christ! people complained that the Vita was too expensive at £240 because you had to buy a memory card, but even after they see a deal like this that effectively wipes out the price of the 32GB memory card, they still complain it's expensive because you need a memory card!!!!!!

if Sony gave the Vita away people would still complain you need a memory card. it's just moaning for maonings sake

I wasn't moaning mate, maybe you should read again.

See peep's reply.

I got a nice deal at HMV in store. Vita (Wifi) + Uncharted + Starter Pack + Pre-order pack for £230

"Online, Amazon and Play have frequently readjusted their bundle prices in an attempt to undercut each other"

Yeh tell me about it lol

Originally I had my pre order with Gamestation, then changed to Amazon and now changed to Play lol

I think if you're after Uncharted in your bundle play.com has the best deal. [£242.99 for Wifi, Uncharted and 8GB memory card]

HMV is offering Uncharted or Fifa free with the console for £229.99 in store, but remember that's without the memory card
LolololRumz  +   1171d ago
Never saw the Play.com deal. That is amazing!
peeps  +   1171d ago
I have a sinking feeling it's incorrect though...

Uncharted is the top tier pricing game, and yet Lumines, a lower tier game is being sold in a bundle for £265.99

'Tis good...
But you don't get the free 8GB memory card like Amazon offers in their bundle, and that thing is worth £28. A memory card is mandatory, so Asda's price isn't really a better deal.

guys dont order from game.co.uk

they are charging £269.99 for wifi vita. fifa and 8gb card.

today they changed the pre orders so you dont get the pre order bonus

play.com are offering the same deal WITH the pre order bonus for £242.99

I had a pre-order with Zavvi for £196 but I cancelled it cause Shopto has a better deal.

Vita(Wifi) + Rayman + Pre-order Pack(Which includes a £5 PSN code + a few other things) all for £218.84.

If you went with the Asda deal and got Rayman then it would cost £226.

I know there are some other deals that include a memory card but I want the 16gb, which know one has in there bundles. I also got the 16gb card for £35 from Asda a few weeks ago.

Same here everyone seems to be sticking to the 8GB card for bundles but I wouldn't mind a slightly more expensive bundle with the 16GB.

I asked Gamestation if they would be accepting pre owned memory card but was told they would see nearer the time. My plan would be to get a bundle, trade in the 8GB card and put the money towards the 16B. It would soften the blow of paying nearly £40 for a 16GB of storage that's for sure
Waddy101  +   1171d ago
There is one company that have the 16gb in their bundles, if you go to www.gamestop.co.uk they have a Wi-Fi only Vita, Uncharted and a 16gb memory card for £269.99 (the same price GAME is selling there 8gb bundle for)

I'm mainly going to be using Physical games so the 8gb Amazon bundles is fine for me but that bundle is good for those who are going Digital only or mainly digital.

The deal ive found still works out best for me.

Gamespot, Vita+Uncharted+16gb then + Rayman(£30)= £300

The way ive gone

ShopTo, Vita+Rayman then 16gb(£35)+Uncharted(£ ;35)= £289.
