Welcome to Show and Tell, a Kotaku regular where we talk to indie developers and students about the project they’re working on and what they’re about to release. Today we have Liam O’Sullivan from Walk Thru Walls Studio to talk about Metal Dead.
Johnny Quid writes: "If you're going to make that leap into developing a zombie-themed video game, you've got to make sure you do it right, but you also have to do something different. Let's face it, there's no shortage of zombie apocalypse games. The genre is as overdone as that pumpkin pie sitting in the oven right now. That said, don't let Metal Dead's point & click zombie adventure sour you from giving it a play-through just because 'it's another damn zombie game'. As casual as the experience is, Walk Thru Walls Studios has done a fantastic job creating a humorous story of zombie survival that's as fun to play as it is sketchily scribbled and sadistically hilarious."
Jeff of Just Press Start writes:
"Clearly, the “death” of point and click adventures has been reported prematurely. WadjetEye, Telltale, and others have been proving otherwise for years now. While there is still a dearth of true AAA adventure game publishers, independents have ensured that the genre once again has a solid footing, if even for a more niche audience."
It sounds like a typical zombie scenario, but it isn’t. Metal Dead is a brilliantly written, funny and entertaining game from start to finish. Dialog is top-notch and you will find yourself laughing out loud (or LOL-ing) at least 10 times.
