The Daily Rotation - Battlefield 3 vs. Modern Warfare 3 Showdown

Steve of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Usually I talk about one specific game per review and discuss what I like about and what I think they missed the mark on, or Pros & Cons, so to speak. This time, I figure, instead of making two separate reviews, since these games are so closely linked, since the publishers of both the games were at such a war with each other when both games launched, why not make them face off in a winner take all match! So that’s what I’m going to do! I’m taking two separate reviews for two games and making them into one grueling match up to the death! And if you haven’t guessed by now because you simply didn’t read the link you clicked to get to this page, it’s Activision’s gorilla in the room Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 vs. EA’s second attempt at taking their thunder Battlefield 3!"

"two main factors of each, Campaign & Multiplayer."

No, Campaign is NOT a main feature of BF3 and never will be. I stopped reading tbh.

Battlefield has never really had a campaign until they went to EA. well one game did but until the bad company series they really didnt get into it. The last real BF was 2142. Unlike CoD they didnt build themselves around their campaign. Most BF fans wish they never made one. That way they could spend all their efforts towards multiplayer. Basically if DICE had their way, there would be no campaign but EA is forcing them to make it and take time out of the multiplayer which would have been a massive boost to its quality

BF3 = is ALL about the TEAM oriented style of all out warfare MP. No other game puts you in the fast paced action of war like BF. BF never really had a campaign until stupid EA made them waste time making one for BF3. Thanks for nothing EA as that time could of been used to make BF 3142!

CODMW3 = has always been a very good mix of SP and MP. COD use to have a great team MP foundation but now a days COD is more about being Rambo. The SP is still pretty great and Hollywood like but the endless waves of enemies is pretty lame but overall a good mix of SP/MP on one disc.

Both are LEGENDARY series that offer something different but have been watered down somewhat to make them more accessible (attract more casuals) but hopefully next release they go back to their roots, if not then thank the Gaming Gods for Planetside 2.

"That of course is not to be confused with the Battlefield 2: Modern Combat game that was made for consoles, because that game sucked"

I beg to differ. IMO it was one of the best online ps2 titles. And i hope dice re-make some of the maps for BF3!.

Don't know why you got disagrees. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat kicked alot of ass on my PS2 as well. I'd love to see Backstab, Deadly Pass, Dammage and Bridge Too Far needs make a comeback.

Dice needs to explain how they went from awesome level designs like the above to creating Metro.....

This thread again...

Ok about BF3, yeah its fun with friends. Really kinda sucks alone. I do enjoy it and I am a heavy COD player. Just can't play it alone because without communication you will always die a lot and have to run a lot.

Call of Duty is literally an arcade FPS. Fast pace, small maps, Kill feeds, craziness all around. Doesn't feel like a war but feels more like running and gunning even if you are just a sniper who isn't quick scoping.

Why are these games still being compared this far from release. -_-

Surely there is more to write about other than these 2 games.

Call of Duty didn't really get out there until the release of COD 4. It was never and will never be the Battlefield of PC, just like BF will never take the throne on Console. Yeah you have your undying fanboys of either game for any system, but as it is COD will always be favored by console players over the PC community for BF. That is no big secret.

When I play MW3 or any COD on PC it feels like it needs a gamepad, when i play BF3 on console I feel like i'd do better with a mouse and keyboard, now this is my personal opinion but thats how i feel about it all. Even though COD started on PC its new home is primarily consoles.
