1UP - Randy Pitchford, Todd Howard, David Jaffe, and more tell us what they want to see next time around.
the hardware should be 10 times more powerful than this gens hd consoles
Yeah, that won't happen. Rising game budgets and a poor economy dictate that neither Microsoft or Sony are going to splash out on hardware specs next generation. Expect an incremental upgrade to the Xbox 360 and PS3 that allow for 1080p natively across the board and perhaps 60fps as a de facto standard. Nothing more. It's not and option, financially. Especially for Sony.
I think it can be 10x the power but it may not translate to 10x graphics beacus I heard that the ps3 is 40x more powerful than the ps2,here is a game on the ps2,to it looks good but it's lacking a couple of things to make it comparable to this gen.
Agree, next consoles will just be upgrades.
less bitching and more gaming. oops, that would be two things. My bad. you guys decide from my choices.
All games 60fps standard? Well there goes COD's so called advantage <_<
I want graphics and bigger worlds
I want devs to go back to focusing on gameplay first, and creating worlds with inspiration and imagination instead of "bigger and better looking"
Super Rub a Dub 2
Less fps games
Omg THIS please
I just want a Bethesda game to run at a steady frame rate
One day Bethesda will get to that smoother 10fps mark.
No RROD or YLOD. That's it.
NO INPUT LAG, 1080p standard, 60 FPS standard, more and better online features, Skype quality voice chat across ALL games.
Adding stuff! A controller with 6 face buttons. The Saturn D-Pad. More RAM. As much BC as we can get. I'm talking EVERY previous console with Sony and Microsoft.
It would be awesome if the PS4 played the PS1, PS2, and PS3 games fully. That would pretty much redeem Sony for taking it out of the PS3. haha
I totally agree with more buttons, 2 more at least, 4 would be ideal-- 2 face buttons and 2 side buttons for your back fingers on the corner of the handles
Don't give a shit about graphics per se. Just a) Have full BC. b) Have the next XBox use a very, very similar controller to the 360 one. Sega's 6-button controller was the only one as good as the current 360 controller.
More story driven games akin to Heavy Rain & Mass Effect. PLEASE.
I want a much greater graphical leap than what we had going from last generation to the current. Going from ps2/xbox to xbox360 was a letdown for me at the time. The graphics just didnt blow me away.
away for me to play my console on the go from where I left off while I'm sitting on the train to go to work
Once upon a time during the NES-PS2 era, games was fun. Lets start with that when it comes to next gen.
i dont really care about ps4 since ps3 is next gen enough for me, but as for wii and the wii u jump im looking forward to seeing classic nintendo franchises with great graphics finally
I know right finally! Cant wait to play me some Zelda with true next gen graphics.
1. More cloud integration and reliability. 2. Same day downloads as retail release. 3. Less DLC. 4. Better hardware reliability. 5. Full backwards compatibility for retail releases. 6. Compatibility with all XBLA and PSN purchases.
Ability to multi-task on anything and everything.
Yes! Multiple windows so I could have my game running in one, and say a browser or an app in another.
The frames per second, just it, most games from last gen, specially Dreamcast & PS2 most games were 60fps, & it was always good to me, this gen have seen the biggest drop in frames is not even funny, there were tons of games that could of achieved that!!!!! I know there might be some compromises, but come on, that's about the one thing that I care the most when it comes to games, I think that's one of the factors behind Call Of Duty's success, but I'm not a fan of First person shooters!!!!!
& not limited to DVD, enough with that!!!!!!!
The thing I want most is for graphics to not be the first priority. Games look good enough. Developers should focus on better performance. Things like quality voice chat and running at 60FPS are far more important to me than accurately rendered facial hair. Even if something like Battlefield doesn't look mind blowing, I'll enjoy it much more if it runs nice and smooth and I can understand what the rest of my team is doing.
i want developers to change the way they think about fps i'm tired of linear fps with no replay value
Personally I think FPSs hasn't change since 007 for the N64. Anyway, What do you suggest?
A massive leap forward in processing power and lots more RAM. That's all there needs to be. I don't need all this gimmicky crap like Kinect or screens on my controller. Just give me a slightly modified 360 or PS controller, and a lot more processing power and RAM.
Go get it. Why do you let console companies dictate when to get new hardware?
Because... A)Some of us do both console and PC gaming. There are games that are better on console, and some of the best games are exclusive to console. Most of my favorite games are on console only, or are better for console. B)Not all of us have $1000+ to throw at a gaming PC on whim. Anything under that has only a negligible leap forward in graphics, so don't argue with me about it not being that expensive, I've priced one out before, and for a good PC it will be at least $1000. C)Graphics and such are held back by consoles as a whole. When a new console generation comes out is when we really see significant graphical improvements.
Obviously better graphics but I'm not really sure where else there is to go. Improvements sure but I would be shocked if we saw the same jump we did between last gen and this gen (if even close to it). The one thing I want in new consoles is successful innovation in the games and experience. I personally have no issue with kinect, wii or move inherently but I never wanted to spend extra money. If it's bundled with the console and I get a bump in graphics and some new game experiences, that's all I can ask for in the next gen
To be honest i don't care so much for the graphical upgrade, i just want more variety next gen, this gen always seemed like fps all the time
Real time Ray Tracing, 60FPS and 1 console that plays every single game known to man (full backwards compatibility at the least)! Wireless peripherals (camera), universal charging stations, SKYPE and more high quality less expensive games ($20-30 like good bluray movies on launch)! Cross whatever (game, movie, tv, browse) voice communication! The ability to, save game saves to a cloud free of charge for those of us with consoles in every room. Standards based media and a smaller hardware footprint. Reintroduce strict game release QA (less game updates)and no more mandatory game installs. And lots of other things related to corporate greed (i.e. game pass, reduction in physical media, proprietary blah blah blah and etc...) Don't forget - Rise of the Triad remake with all the cheats!!!
My bad... I meant to state a reduction in all the things related to corporate greed.
4x-8x Anti-Aliasing Minimum in all games! I freaking HATE jaggies!
i expect the nex gen consoles to be even more multimedia than the 7th gen and i take this as a given. 1 thing i do really want though is just that they upgrade the GPU/CPU/RAM so that we can do cross play chat and play games thats are like 30GB+ in size packed with alot of content, nice soundtrack and ofcourse more advanced graphics :) these are the things i'm expecting on a 8th gen home console, but i am not sure if we will get it though.
Next gen=premium cost for outdated hardware.
