OPS Mag: That’s the 1.4 million dollar question. Now, though, it looks like Lagzilla might finally have been put out of its misery, thanks to the new Skyrim 1.4 PS3 patch. Well, ‘might’.
oh yeah, its completely fixed. :)
Im glad to hear this:)
Nice, it seems that my patience to pick this game up has finally paid off.
It works great for me. I'm about 200 hours in and a level 59 character. My game saves are still 10 MB though but as long as there continues to be no lag, I'm happy.
Yes. My 179 hour 17 mb game was so big that lag showed up in minutes. Now the game is much more stable. Too bad I already got the plat.
wow, respect, man. you have some crazy dedication to the game. I stopped playing around a 10mb save.
finally! Im glad to hear it, im gonna start saving up for Skyrim on ps3
Well the article says that after playing for an extended period that the lag comes back. I mean what do you expect from an overpriced internet ready blu ray player? Just play it on PC or the superior Xbox 360 for crying out loud. "The Xbox 360 is the BEST console EVER made." --John Carmack
Troll much insallgud?
why should we care about a quote from Carmack , a pc genius indeed , but wich hasnt released anything memorable on any console ? Or are you going to pretend that the ports of quake and doom matter on consoles , or that Rage isnt something decent but already forgotten ? You are scrapping the bottom of the barrel with your quote . Wake us up when actual and major actors in console gaming says so
@Itsallgud, i threw up a few times after reading your comment. Thanks
Is that sarcasm? People usually put smiley faces after sarcastic comments...
Lol, that's a good one. To be honest I got the pc version since I don't really trust Bethesda with PS3 ports. Hopefully this fixes every problem the PS3 version has and also fix their reputation.
Lol, and I just started playing Skyrim on the PC. Oh well..
Then I'll enjoy the "GOTY" edition....
This post is for those people who never actually read the article, and will complain because of that. Might save the rest of us some headaches: “The 1.4 patch for Skyrim includes many performance-enhancing updates for the PlayStation 3. A few important things to note: 1. To ensure the fastest jump in performance after applying the patch, be sure to first create a new manual save by entering the save menu and choosing “save game.” You should then restart your PlayStation 3 before continuing to play. 2. If you encounter strange behaviour while playing immediately following application of the patch, do not be alarmed – this is a temporary effect of Skyrim scripts correcting themselves after the update. Once this process runs its course, be sure to make a new save and restart your PlayStation 3.”
My game had next to no issues before the patch. The patch completely hosed my game up. Bring on the nonsense disagrees, but this is what happened to me. I have more lag than ever. 25% of the time when I'm trying to loot corpses, I get a good 10-15 seconds of lag.
13MB save file, lv 40 mage. Two 6 hour sessions. Yes, the patch fixes the lag. But had to make another save file so maybe that's why I'm good, and some others experience lag after long periods of time. They never followed the instructions after installing the patch.
Realy?! A great news!
Huh, didnt know it was out. Thats great to hear! Havent played it in a while, left it to give other games a chance i.e. BF3 & MGS HD Collection, but the game is so huge its gonna be hard to get back into the swing of things.
Nah you'll get straight back into the swing of things. I typically don't stop playing a game till I finish it but Skyrim is too huge for me to do that. With Skyrim I play in between other game releases, it's surprising how quickly I can get back into it.
You're probably right. I usually split my gaming between a singleplayer game and multiplayer game, but once you get stuck into Skyrim its like the black hole of gaming, just takes away all your gaming time. So to prevent missing out on other games, i had to give it a break for a while.
Haha, yay. Now I can start considering to get it.
My Game ......... 14mb file has dropped to 12 and the game is playing smoother . A lot smoother . I have only played the new patch for an hour or two so lets give it 20 more hours and see. Note: I have to wonder what parts of the game have been chopped ...... to create a smaller save file .
They Didn't Cut Anything out. They used a healing spell and it fixed the lag
The script reason they give makes perfect sense to me as my 37MB file slowly dropped to 21MB after a huge list of 'errors' listed themselves out on the screen when I completed the main quest before this patch. I am going to try this patch to one such save game I still have to see if it the same effect.
i just knew this was gonna happen somehow i knew it ;/... the lag is gone which is good :).. however .. i just platinumed the game yesterday :( i just feel like i missed out xD..like whats the point in playing with no lag now xD... i should've played arkham city before skyrim... instead of now.
i wasn't aware there was any DLC, or were you talking about a future release? in that case a come back would be very enjoyable x]
I'm confused...I have been busy with school and got back to gaming, my version was 2.03....
yeah it's because the first patch they accidentally name it 2.00 for the ps3 so they have to continue from there cuz it cant go backwards so 1.4 means 2.03 on ps3
i think this was only in EU
Well, too bad, the lag isn't fixed yet, Markarth is a mess.
It fixed the lag for me, Ive been playing 4 hour non-stop games back to back to see if the lag ever came back and it never did really. only minor freezing when getting deadly kill but other than that its fine.
ok now I might buy it.
Took them long enough -.-
I did take some time, but they fixed alot besides the ps3 lag
Framerate is up overall, but not solid. When it looks like the lag will kick in, there's like a half-second freeze, and stuff goes back to normal. Climbing up some steeper paths seems easier. It's an overall nice first step! Got me back into some arrow-knee action.
i'm only a few hours into the game, so i may just end up starting a brand new game and forego all of the nonsense of rebooting the entire system...
I'd certainly recommend that.
Bro your totally wrong lol you dont have to restart the game from the beginning, you just have to create a new save manually from where you at in the game and then erase your old saves to be sure and just reboot the game! That's it ;D
no, no... i know that i don't have to start over from the beginning... considering that i have really only completed 1 quest (and maybe 1 side mission), i don't see a problem in just tsarting over from the beginning. that and it's been a long time since i've booted the game (nearly 2.5 months now), so i would like to have it all fresh in my mind instead of trying to remember what has happened, etc... @ the disagree (not you, matadores) - what, you don't agree with the fact that i've only played the game for a few hours? are you retarded?
Nope still getting some lag but overall not a bad update it fixed a lot of annoying bugs and glitches.
This pisses me off. Who is disagreeing? What are they disagreeing with??? "No, Gamer-Z, apparently the patch worked PERFECTLY for you and you just don't know it!". Geez. The patch didn't work for everyone, people. For some (me) it made things much worse. You cannot disagree with stated fact.
Lol i don't mind, haters are gonna hate and disagrees just means that they took the time to read my comment.
maybe everyone takes disagrees the wrong way. instead of thinking they meant "you're wrong", maybe they meant "it works for me."
curious. did you follow the instructions?
The LAG is improved greatly. :) I love it! I did buy the PC version today, as well. If only I could run it on higher settings...
Im getting GOTY/complete edition anyway. But its nice to see an improvement.
Everyone should know by now that Bethesdas RPGS are so vast & complex that it always takes 2-3 months to iron out all the anomalies. (Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout 3/Fallout New Vegas etc) After 5 years of waiting for Skyrim, why folks can't wait a tiny bit longer until the patches work their magic smacks of naivety, particularly as there have been several other AAA titles to get stuck into during this small period! When the next Elder Scrolls game is released it'll be more complex, vast & graphically amazing than ever before, yet something tells me that some people will still expect it to run trouble free from day one and then waste 2-3 months of their life moaning & complaining.
People are "moaning and complaining" because one specific version of the game was far more broke than the others. One group of players having to "wait a tiny bit longer" whilst everyone else could play to their heart's content without half as many problems has been unacceptable. If we were all in the same boat, you'd almost be right, but the PS3 version shouldn't have been released in the state it was in. Also, if every version of the game suffered from the same crippling problem, it'd have been fixed months ago. └(∵┌)└( ∵ )┘(┐∵)┘
just like to point out that the PC version suffered just as badly, not from lag but regular random crashes to desktop amoungst a whole host of other bugs & glitches, and Xbox 360 had glitches galore too - all the patches released were for ALL platforms, not just PS3, so everyone was badly effected in one way or another, not just PS3.
Except the pc version didnt suffer than badly . From day one it had less issues . What most pc owners were complaining about were bugged quests , backward flying dragon (hardly gamebreaking) or how utterly non-optimized it was , and the obvious console port feel of the game given it's interface and lack of any hd content . All quickly adressed within the first weeks with mods , utilies and amateur patches The ps3 (and 360) didnt have that option
"why folks can't wait a tiny bit longer until the patches work " And why don't they release the damn game when it's debugued ? quite acting like it's anyone fault but bethesda..
I don't suppose anyone knows if it has fixed the crashing? Sold my copy
played a good few hours last night. no freezes and hardly any lag. looks like they've fixed the main problem with the ps3 version, which was that long term lag. combat seems so smooth now aswell. i realised how broken skyrim was on ps3 after playing with this patch, it was terrible. finally ps3 owners can now play the real skyrim
How many hours in we're you. I'm about 30-40 and can't say I've seen any lag. Maybe it was there but not bad enough yet for me to notice.
why is it people are diagreeing with you? are they at your house watching you play skyrim. I didn't have a lot of problems with mine either. Just some frame rate drops mostly, the worst of witch was in whiterun or when there was a lot of action going on, oh and i did see a backwards flying dragon once. The framerate issues have almost stopped completely(just a small half second glitch ever now and again) edit: oh yeah im level24 with like 70 hours of play. not sure wat size my save is.
Iv lost interest with this game now...too many patches and problems. Its just not worth it...
How many times must we get burned ....... or... ( broken wheel ) To those of you taking a sympathy stance on behalf of the Elder Scrolls personal. Shame on you . I am blown away by how many gamers are willing to forgive Publishers for selling broken products . ( I will say it again .... this patch option is taking on Mammoth proportions ) What surfaced as a fantastic back up has now become an essental step in game production where we all get to be game testers . Now if only they would cut us in on the Billions . NO , no , its alright Bethesda ...... here have some more cash you poor things , I am sure you will sort it all out soon . In fact here take my car ..... OH .... OK , you don't drive , well , just take the deed to my house then ........... ( The one in Whiterun with that silly little bookshelf )
I could imagine the lag must be like Blighttown in Dark Souls. Getting Skyrim the same day i buy an awesome gaming machine.
Because I never experienced anything near what other players had to deal with Blighttown. I notice some framerate drops, but nothing near Skyrim in performance. Anyways, the lag in Skyrim didn't bother me, but the constant freezing did.
For me on the PC, I had random crashes when exceeding 2GB RAM now I can play until I need sleep.
Yes the lag on PS3 is really fixed with the patch 1.4 You create a new save manually, erase your old one to be sure, then restart the game from where you was and boom! Lag fixed! Yeah baby, now i can enjoy back this game :D http://www.nowgamer.com/new...
So, why do PS3 gamers pay Bethesda all these time for a broken game? The game should have been recalled until it has been properly fixed which means PS3 version should have been delayed until now. But most gamers will disagree with me because they rather pay Bethesda a full price for a game that is not ready and full of bugs. The excuse of using the gamers as the tester to find bugs is not acceptable because we pay at full for the game. If such practice is done in school or many type of businesses, teachers or customers will not accept it. For some reason in game business, it is standard practice to ship broken product that is not ready and consumers are happy to buy broken product because they have no concept of the meaning to wait until the product is properly baked.
This is absolutely pathetic. After this debacle I will not be purchasing another Bethesda game again. They should be ashamed of themselves for releasing a broken game and taking so long to "fix" the problem.
i highly doubt that this fix will work for long. of course i see sony fanboys lying about it just to improve the image of their console
