6.0 -- Kingdoms of Amalur Review

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning certainly brings some heavy hitters to the table, developed by Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios in partnership with Big Huge Games, and published by 38 Studios in partnership with EA the game credits read like a who’s who of the fantasy genre. Writing credits go to R.A. Salvatore, whom any fantasy fan should recognize instantly from his run as a top selling Forgotten Realms author, Ken Rolston, the lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion served as the game’s executive designer, Todd McFarlane the creator of Spawn is credited with the artwork for the game, and Grant Kirkhope, long time composer for Rare Ltd wrote the musical score. With all these names one would expect something epic to happen the moment the game is played. Unfortunately the game falls short on truly tapping into the talent behind it.

Six is a joke and the review is a very, very poor.
Consider this : his review is 578 words for a game like KOA and I wonder how much he play the game.
Next time he will message the review with his cellphone.

I don't know if people take seriously "review" like this.

I'm ambivalent about Amalur -- but it's a solid game that offers very good value.

The review sounds as if it was written by somewhere who played the Demo (not as good as the game itself, by the way) and perhaps a few missions from the Game. It's hardly possible to know this game adequately, upon short acquaintance. There's no indication from the review that the game was completed, even in its main missions.

I found one entire level where my XP was greatly diminished (i figured it was halved) only to have to resume at the right XP for ensuing levels. I find the damage inflicted on weapons and armor to be severe (i currently have one weapon that requires 11,000 gold to repair -- and then it will quickly "wear out" again. It's hard to keep up with weapon repairs.) But overall, there are considerably more merits than defects or glitches -- so i am happy to support the developers of what deserves to be a new franchise. Even the game's most negative detractors, seem inclined to admit that it has great potential....
