On David Jaffe and Misogyny by The Black Panel

The Black Panel writes: As noted by the Oxford Dictionary, misogyny can be defined as “the hatred of women by men”. This has led many to conclude that a statement cannot be considered misogynistic unless it amounts to “I really do despise women. They’re the worst, right? Wow, it feels great to finally have that off my chest.” Obviously Jaffe didn’t say that (he’s not a serial killer after all), but his words are nevertheless demeaning and exclusionary. (David Jaffe, PS3, Twisted Metal )

Give it a rest already. If you wanna know if he's misogynistic or not just ask his wife or 2 daughters.

He talks to gamers the same way guys talk to their friends at a bar. Why is it such a problem that he feels comfortable talking to gamers like we're all friends?

I tend to agree. His original comment, in my opinion, was far less misogynistic and a lot more marginalizing. I believe that he was being himself...which is that it was a cheap joke at the expense of girlfriends all around the country that are waiting for that ONE GIFT that truly says I LOVE YOU. LOL As you said, this had more of a locker room tone than a I HATE WOMEN tone. (or even I just don't think about women's feelings). In the end, I believe even the female gamers were probably able to understand that. His further comments were just a knee jerk reaction to journalist blowing his first comments totally out of proportions.

Wow. If you thought that was bad, you should hear what women say about men!

Ya that article makes me sick. guy was joking everyone knows that. He relates to his customers. and its a good way of doing it. the fact he can get the balls to say that makes me like him more. i posted my comment on the site but im sure this feminist will just moderate it off her precious hate page.

A couple of points. The comment wasn't cencored and the author (me) is male.

These journalists need to listen to some Andrew Dice Clay albums from the 80's before they comment about Jaffe... He makes Jaffe sound like Maya Angelou

I want to kick the writer in the balls, then shove Sweet Tooth's blade down his throat.

What a retard. Jaffe doesn't hate women. This whole thing is blown out of proportion by stupid oversensetive sobs.

That's a pretty strong reaction Vincent. Perhaps you didn't notice that the article concludes by taking Jaffe at his word that he isn't a misogynyst. The point of the article is to encourage Jaffe and others to be more inclusive towards women by refraining from these sort of comments, which many women (and plenty of men) find objectionable.

Ok, I am wondering if any of you actually read the article in question. The article states that Jaffe isnt a misogynist but his comments were. That's all, it is very clear in it's message that these things probably shouldn't have been said. Surely you can all realise this.

Time and place for these sort of jokes and a press interview isn't one of them. Might I suggest before attacking a writer who simply put his opinion forward that you both read and understand his article before suggesting physical violence. You will look like less of an idiot that way....
