Meodia takes a look at 5 great gaming franchises that never got the opportunity to leave their mark... and gamers never forgot.

LX-General-Kaos4458d ago

Weak ass list!

I want the return of Powerstone

killerhog4458d ago (Edited 4458d ago )

Yup, been gaming since snes and never heard about any of those games. Cant get over them when they werent in my interest to give a damn to begin with.

LX-General-Kaos4458d ago

Agreed to the fullest. I am sure they could have come up with a better selection than that. Even younger people could have done better.

that is one forgotten franchise I'd like to see again. Wait...it was just a single game. Not even a franchise. My bad, but i would still like to see a remake.

That and Strider. Since Strider on the PS1 I have been patiently waiting......

I'm still waiting but not as patient anymore.

This is the authors personal list but he passes it over like everyone cares about what game he liked in the past.

Out of those 5 games, I only know about KOTOR and Eternal Darkness, Ive never even heard about the rest.

His stupid personal list:

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem
MVP Baseball 2005
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Combat
Actraiser

humbleopinion4458d ago

Thanks for saving the bother to browse through 5 pages for that stupid list. KOTOR especially doesn't make any sense now that The Old Republic MMO is out and played by millions.

If I had to choose a personal favorites I would go with Powerstone and Baldurs Gate. I would have also named Syndicate, X-Com and Deus Ex as my favorites - but all of those have been/will be revived :)

everyone forgot how awesome timesplitters series was.

Lex_Dangerously 4458d ago

Gotta love going through six pages for five items.... *facepalm* ;P

@above: Mmmmmm Timesplitters. It's about time for another, now isn't it? (there was no intended pun)

Hicken4458d ago

I refused. As soon as I saw that, I closed the tab.

Eternal Darkness I can see... a little. It wasn't wildly popular, or anything, though.

One year of a sports series does not make a franchise. If they'd said MVP Baseball, they might have gotten some points, but singling out one year just makes it a stupid addition to a pretty poor list, overall.

Nobody's forgotten about KOTOR, so... it doesn't belong there. Hell, I never played the game, and I haven't forgotten it.

The other two... never even heard of em. Well, I HAVE heard of Actraiser, but not enough that I would be happy/sad about its status in any way.

All in all, it's a pretty bad list, in my opinion.

It took me about 5 minutes to read this article. there is only two ways i can take the comments that its too long. you are extremely busy (good for you)or extremely horrible at reading (keep at it slugger). either way it probaby took you longer to think about what comment to write than to read it.

Fear Effect! I miss my psychological survival horror lesbian chinese action game.

I remember Eidos even teased a part 3 but don't know what happened with that.

Every time I look at the trailer I can't believe that they they cancelled such an awesome looking sequel. Square/Eidos should make it now! ;_;

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle13d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger13d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag13d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

Please o please don't turn dragon quest into final fantasy square enix we dont wont that. Dragon quest works well just as it I. Plus you'll piss off Japanese fans to.

jznrpg17d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
