Chris Buffa (Modojo): A few prospective Vita owners have a new bone to pick with Sony. The Japanese company originally flirted with the idea of letting North American PSP users transfer their UMD games to the sexy new handheld.
Play umd games on a psp Play ps vita games on a ps vita No thanks necessary
i like to have everything in one place thankyouverymuch
yeah you are right. i'm going to stock up on nes game cartridges that were released in the 1980s so i can play them on my wii u. @ IAMTHEPWN *******"It wasn't that bad of a decision. The UMD format came with a lot of restrictions, drained battery life very quickly. Dang Jean D Arc isn't digital yet huh? That game was the best on PSP for me, I hope I can get it again on Vita.
I can't say for other regions but I know in NA it has been available on the PSN for quite a long time.
It isn't on the list of games the playstation blog just released though. Hopefully its just a missed game.
I have heard from some Vita users that they have been able to play it so you are likely in luck!
Baaawww my new hardware doesn't play software of a different type of physical medium a piece of hardware I already have designed for that medium does. /s
I'm glad, I hated UMDs. The things were way too fragile and got dirty all too quickly. And I'm a person that's very careful with my belongings.
Same here, the top cover of the disc would always press in and mess up the disc. And if the disc itself got dusty or a finger print, it was a pain to clean. I had UMD towers and cases and everything, and this still happened and I didn't understand it. I didn't hate UMD's, just glad they are gone. Taking care of a chip will be a lot easier than those. Let alone I won't have to carry a suitcase around just to have a few extra games with me.
If your luky enough in that you've only had a PSP Go then your all set.
The lack of the full PSP library not being on PSN is a lot more disappointing then the Vita not playing UMDs.
i dont care aslong as Type Zero is downloadable and i can play it on the vita with dual analogs.
Type Zero has indeed been confirmed to use dual analogs. No word on downloadable yet...
The future of BC is not looking pretty. I won't be surpised if PSP games get re released for Vita and PS3. If you won't to play your PS3/360 games on your new PS4/720, chances are you have to buy the remix.
I wonder why they they didnt go bluray umd it could have been future proof then, still waiting for the first pc bluray game will it ever happen.
I think this program is having trouble getting over here cause there are more hula hoops to go through in case of licensing issues. This i believe this is one of the main reasons that we get so few PSP/PS1 games compared to the Japanese store. I think Sony really wants to have this program in the west, they have mentioned it many times when the Vita was introduced. In the end it is more of a hassle for Sony which is unfortunate.
