Why are games frowned upon as creative pieces by non-gamers? XBIGY games give their views.
Games are a form of art. It'll eventually be seen as such, but since gaming is relatively new in a history sense non-gamers won't see it as so. Films use to be be the same way. Films were ridiculed back in it's early days, but is now recognized as a form of art. I say, give it time and if games with deep story and narrative become top sellers we'll slowly see the public recognizing gaming as more than just mindless fun.
I agree with you completely. I wanted to add a section about how gaming is historically quite a new medium and still needs to be accepted culturally. Like you say, as time goes on and gaming becomes generally accepted as a past time, then people will begin to turn to the idea of it as an art form. Games will mature over time. Like I said atm most stuff released isn't anything close to art.
