No, Saints Row developer Volition - the next Xbox possibly preventing people from playing pre-owned games "can be a bad thing".

Those words belong to Adam Badowski, managing director of Polish Witcher 2 developer CD Projekt Red, who spoke to Eurogamer today.

If we allowed them to do this then god knows how far will they take this.

Open your eyes people!!
Those are major companies with billions of revenue each year!!

Just like how they abused the DLC concept they will do the same with the used market.

Buy a Wii U (assuming this used-game block is confirmed); that console will be HD, marketed towards a core audience and won't block used games.

As far as we know at least. Then again, Nintendo is not know for supporting crap like that. Online passes and on-disc DLC for example.

Good to see these guys aren't dumb like THQ

I still don't believe MS is doing this, nor have I heard of anyone asking them. But it's fiery topic until MS comes out with an extinguisher or puts gas on it. Only time will tell...

gamingdroid2083d ago

I doubt this is true, as it would never fly. It might be one of those things where, MS allows it, but it is up to the publisher/developer.

If used games are eliminated on the next Xbox, I ain't buying it! If select games allow it, I ain't buying those and would have second thoughts about buying an Xbox, because it allows it!

... but for now it is a rumor and let's treat it as such!

If the next Xbox or what ever system embraces this stupid idea It will bomb horribly ..... It will surely be the next Sega Dreamcast in sell, piracy, and hacking ...

$65 dollars for a game is crazy and is just being money greedy but in fact MS, Sony, and Nintendo is to blame for this because of their high royalty fees and the money greedy publishers is trying to take it out on the consumers and just use the whole use game sells as a excuse ...

Used game sells been going on since SNES ... I remember when you could go to a pawn shop and buy a used game for like $5 or $10 dollars.

The sad thing is some people will still actually buy it .... not many but a few million fools will still support it but it wont be enough and they will see they made a huge error....

If this happen I will just start playing internet base games or build me a gaming PC.... As if the DLC milking and online passes wasn't bad enough.

$60 X 6 million sells ........ hmmm I have to ask but how much are the developers getting paid and how much is MS,Sony, and Nintendo is getting if that is not enough? They should should fight against the big 3 for crazy royalty fees and not take it out on the consumer they should grow them selves a pair.

Its not going to happen anyway. Brick and mortar stores would be in an uproar, and you would basically end most of GameStop's business overnight. And they're not the only ones...

Do something like this and it will have terrible repercussions. Gamers will turn on the industry, and piracy will only increase. This will give people a strong motive to pirate software, even honest people. They'll think its like fighting the evil empire. It will make every gamer into a potential Robin hood.

Hicken2083d ago

"We are losing money not because of pirates; we are losing money because people decided not to buy our game.

"We should invest more power to upgrade and polish our products and convince players to keep our products, to be with us, to understand our needs - because we are an independent developer, we have to prevent lay-offs, we need to grow up and have the power to create new games."

Sounds like a developer that gets it. Makes me want to support them.

Simon_Brezhnev2083d ago (Edited 2083d ago )

Yeah their one of my favorite Devs this generation. They dont bullshit us and they give nothing but free DLC to PC crowd.

I wasnt plan on getting the new xbox anways but if Sony does this done with console gaming period and be strictly PC.

kaveti66162083d ago

If every developer followed suit, they would still fail to sell enough copies.

It's a game of musical chairs. Someone inevitably is going to lose.

Social darwinism stipulates that the best people will succeed. But we know that's not how it really works.

Neither THQ nor this guy from CD Projekt Red admit to the reality of life. They just follow stupid philosophies.

i hate it when bad grammar happens to good people

admiralthrawn872083d ago (Edited 2083d ago )

I think companies are losing revenue because of market saturation of hardware. PC, Vita, 3DS, Wii-U, XBOX720, ps4,iOS. we just can't buy all that or even have time to play all the good games.

i think either ps4 or microsoft should bow out next time. it seemed like i could play more games when i just had a playstation and an n64.

I didn't say nintendo should bow out due to the fact that they differentiate themselves from the other two. The other two provide the exact same experience with only a couple differences mainly being exclusives.
