GameSpot: Kingdoms of Amalur's combat and character advancement are fantastic enough to overshadow how bland everything else is.
From GameSpot : The bad Generic story and characters Generic world Generic quests. Well, probably the reviewer he can do a better job. What a pity he is only a "journalist".
Kinda funny how it works. Skyrim has a generic story, no real characters, a generic is virtually empty world, and quests that amount to "Go there. Kill something. Come back." Skyrim also had a debilitating save file bug (among many others). Because of the same faults and extra bugs we can deduce that Skyrim is the much better game. Wait, what?
This "journalist" makes his points well as to why he was disappointed by the game, and he has evaluated the pros and cons of the game quite thoroughly. More than can be said for a lot of review sites. I thoroughly agree with his sentiment that Reckoning does not capture the wonderment of a truly immersive world like Skyrim, and since that, to me, is a hallmark of a great RPG, I have to agree that Reckoning cannot best Skyrim. 7.5 is however harsh.
I have to disagree with Gamespot on this one. It doesn't have the problems Skyrim has with all the bugs in that game and yet they gave that game an 9.0!!! Yeah skyrim was good, but the combat is not great. Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning has better combat than Skyrim, and its better than that crap called Fable. 7.5 is so so but not great. I would of give this an 9.0 like Ign. We haven't seen an Elder Scroll games since 2005 until recently 2011. 6 years!!! and still have more of the same bugs as the last Elder Scrolls!!!
