A Defense of Open-World Games

Blottr: Open-world design continues to be vital. Gamers demand choice and rightly so, and its a great measure of developers' ability to deliver, without sacrificing build quality. It'll be interesting to see what developers do with the concept for the more attention-grabbing open-world projects this year, as we'll certainly see Prototype 2, potentially Assassin's Creed III, Borderlands 2 and perhaps finally, Diablo III. Prepare to be lost. (PC, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360)

Maybe because of the people that dont like glitches/bugs

but there are no glitches & bugs once the patches kick in - everyone knows that masterpieces such as elder scrolls/fallout etc are always smoothed out after a couple of months.

To play these open world rpgs from day one is to in effect take part in a 'public beta testing program' to flush & iron out the anomalies !
