New CryEngine 3 video shows off 'Natural Lighting' in video games

DSOGaming writes: "Modder ‘maikel’ has released a new CryEngine 3 video that shows off what ‘natural lighting’ would look like in a video-game. The modder has been looking at how light works in the real world and how this can be translated in a game engine and his research is designed to answer: a) How does direct light, indirect light and atmospheric effects work in the real world and b) How can this be translated into a game engine. The end result is great and you can view its video, as well as some screenshots, bellow. Enjoy!" (Cryengine 3, Crysis 2, PC)

Alan Wake did it better.
theeg  +   1395d ago must be joking, ....right?

alan wake looked ok for a console game, it was 540p and it had loads of low res textures, i'm sure the pc version will look great, but it will have nothing on the pc big hitters, no console games are even within a generation of the first crysis from 2007, let alone newer pc games.

next gen console games won't look nearly as good as cryengine 3 on pc, or arma 2, or hard reset, or the witcher 2, or bf3, or x3, or ........
