If you own a PS3 and haven't bought Uncharted yet, you're part of the problem

If you have a PS3 and don't have this game, what the hell is wrong with you? Most of the game's current sales probably went to knowledgeable, hardcore PS3 gamers, but there are still a lot of unsold copies out there, compared to the installed base. If you haven't grabbed Uncharted yet, you're missing out.

The story is too old to be commented.
xplosneer3322d ago

I actually agree with 1up. This game needs to SELL BETTER.

JsonHenry3322d ago

I don't buy single player only games. Especially when there is NO replay value. No matter if it is as good as Uncharted. It would be a huge waste of money.

PimpHandHappy3322d ago

this is the season when ppl are spending mad money on lots of stuff

give it a few months and it will sell very well

if not then all you fools are missing out on a great game

peace

stunt2133322d ago

i was about to buy it but this holiday season i can only afford 2 games so i picked call of duty 4 and super mario galaxy, plus im saving up for 2008 cuz im gonna need like at least 400$

BrianC62343322d ago

Milkman should talk to Randy Nelson at Playstation: The Official Magazine, used to be PSM. He's part of the problem too. I just got the January issue and Randy reviewed Assassin's Creed and Uncharted. They rate on a one to five system. He gave Uncharted a four and mostly talked about how great it is but at the end brought up some dumb problems with it that aren't even true. He said nothing but good things about Assassin's Creed. He said the problems with the game are so minor you should put up with them and gave Assassin's Creed a five. Nonsense.

I just don't trust reviews anymore. Everyone knows how buggy Assassin's Creed is. How can anyone give it a perfect score? That's as silly as giving Super Mario Galaxy an 11.

Bonsai12143322d ago

they went to a 5 point rating instead of keeping their 10 scale? wtf...

Skerj3322d ago

@Json

Man Uncharted not having replay value is a total blatant lie, I don't know how anyone could go through that game and make the claim that it does. It has 1000 trophy points to get and they actually unlock extras. Unlimited ammo, special weapons, special Drake outfits, new rendering modes, super speed, slo mo, and more. The best replay boosting one of them all in my opinion is the mirrored world which doesn't sound like much but actually feels fresh on the subsequent play through.

The 60 treasures to find are also something in themselves. Uncharted is awesome with tons of replay value and very worth someone's money. I don't see myself ever playing Assassin's Creed again but I go back to Uncharted quite often and I still don't have all of the points.

Silver3603322d ago

recommend a game, but telling people they will cause a console to fail because they don't buy a game is BULL. People buy what they like and what they can afford. And just because it is a good game doesn't mean it is a game that everybody likes.

BrianC62343322d ago

"they went to a 5 point rating instead of keeping their 10 scale? wtf... "

Yes, they're almost like the old OPM now. I hate 1-5 rating systems. They really tell you nothing. A 1-10 or 1-100 is much better. Now we won't know much about if the game is great or good. What makes a game a 4 or 5? They talk about this in the new issue. They want us to read their review to get the answers. I read Randy Nelson's full reviews of Uncharted and Assassin's Creed and neither told me the whole story. I guess that's another magazine I won't trust now for reviews. I really didn't use PSM's reviews to decide on games to buy anyway. I don't use any now.

Sevir043322d ago

because if you did that would put you out there as a liar hypocrit and you guessed it a fanboy/fankid and a biased one at that. and if you did which everyone here is sure of please just keep it to yourself. because we dont need to hear your defense lines...

but back on topic.

yes if you havent purchased uncharted and ratchet, warhawk and and S in the US yuo arent helping the fanbase and are screwing the devs. still 1up is in no position really reviews help game sales and scoring this game as an 8 doesn't help the general hype for this game. but hey word of mouth does the job. and also on Sony's part to send this game out in more of a public veiw. they need to blitz the airways with more comercials of Ratcher and uncharted. if they wiosh for more sales

JsonHenry3322d ago

No, I didn't buy Mass Effect. What an ass to assume I did. I just borrowed it from a friend once he finished it because he was foolish enough to buy it.

@1.6 - Things like that don't make me want to play through a game again. I know some people like that sort of thing, but I don't. The only games I buy are ones with good multiplayer. CoD4, Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source, Rainbow Six games, Command and Conquer series... single player to me is BARELY fun the first time around. Going through it twice just sounds like a snooze fest to me.

TwissT3322d ago

Sony need to adverise this game like it was the end of the world.

BISHOP-BRASIL3322d ago

@Skerj

Good you brig Assassin's Creed to the light. This is the perfect exemple of how get all the replay value of the game out of it. Put a instigating history as bakcground, a surprising final (ok, not that surprising, I was expecting to get some Assassin's hability on the real world anytime) that put you wanting more, then when you go for that sidquests that you don't have finished, you just learn that they unlock nothing.

Just look at Shadow Of The Colossus, the game has so much EGGs and Unlockables, besides being fun which AC is too, you play it again, and again...

Now look at Assassin's Creed. They go on at the Microsoft Live approach to what would be replay value, a message saying you have make something, which you know, you have did it! The game says to you "You have collected all King Richard's Flags" and you stay like " O RLY!? Where is my prize, my light saber, my gold horse, the ***ing besta I see in the openning video?"... Thanks to Achievements, people have a reason to play the game a bit more time, but in many cases they really don't want too, just don't have anything better to do.

Maybe is that less of relationship within the gamer's expectation and the game itself that put MS out of Japanese market, they like to be stimulated to continue in the game, even after you beat it. Just look at the big Japanese games. Unlockables, Alternative endings, Easter Eggs... They just love this kind of thing, which you don't see that much within western developers, which direct links in their minds to the western console (which, in fact, stimulate this kind of game that you better be done when you finish it, Achievments... Can't really believe Sony will follow such stupid idea with Home Trophies... Next step, Gamerscore look-a-like, this moment I'll look with more love to the Wii).

toughNAME3322d ago

I completely agree

For me, Bioshock was one of greatest games I've ever played. I played it through once for the story, and a 2nd time for achievements...then I returned it to Blockbuster. I really think you wasted your money if you bought Bioshock/Uncharted (w\e singleplayer-only game you choose)

Now Mass Effect on the other hand I bought first day. A 25+ hour first time through is a little more than just a singleplayer-only game.
I've clocked in probably 40+ hours, playing it through 1 1/2 times.

The point is...take a bubble

bennyace3322d ago

Most people claim that they like their PS3 'cause they can play on their BIG 60'' 1080P SCREEN, a tv that big costs about 4000$. But when a game comes out and it costs 60$ it's too expensive.... Am I missing something here?

zapass3322d ago

when the first half-life game came out, I was having a ball playing quake3 online and I came up with a similar attitude: "who cares about single player anymore?" and then I gave it a chance (not sure why), and was completely blown away in the most unexpected way. Singleplayer done right is just as potent fun as multiplayer mayhem, it's just different, and diversity is good.
uncharted is packed with tons of fun and replay ability you are about to snob and this should be a sin! ;)

gta_cb3322d ago

it will sell in the UK, some shops like GAME are doing deals such as a 40GB SKU with Smackdown vs Raw 2008 and Uncharted for £299.99 which is a good deal as the 40GB SKU on its own is £299.99

PS3PCFTW3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

your right 1.14.

thats why i have 17 of the ps3s best games in its first year. i think like 11 of them are ps3 exclusive.

a whole sh1tload of my friends have ps3s , the only time i ever lent my games out is recently because i practically lent him the money to buy a ps3 so he probably will start buying games next year............until then, hell be borrowing mines.

i think people are going by playstations 2nd year dominance status, therefore theyre all waiting for 08..

from here on out its smoothsailing for ps3.

jorellpogi3322d ago

You have to consider the fact that not all gamers have high speed internet.

CyberSentinel3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

Take note Kojima.

p.s. When your ready to make some real sales on UT3 Epic, you know what you have to do.

Blind Lemmings, Thats The Bottom Line.

@1.20: You must be a N4G n00b because you obviously don't know me kid.

"Anyway, the only reason Epic "delayed" the 360 version of UT3 was so that the PS3 version would sell!

The truth is, UT3 for Xbox wasn't delayed, it was "removed" from Halo 3's Onslaught." -CyberSentinel Nov-14-2007

"The only games I buy are ones with good multiplayer. CoD4, Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source, Rainbow Six games, Command and Conquer series"

so, you only play FPS and one crappy RTS series? wow, w/ such diverse insight into the world of video games i will have to listen to your advise on games from now on.

LSDARBY3322d ago

Buy it, why wouldnt you buy it for christ sake.

projectile3322d ago

I think one reason for games not selling as good as they should on the ps3 is because many people have it just for the blu-ray feature.
So basically the current installbase is not as hardcore on games compared to what is usual for console owners. Normally you buy a console to play games.
Not saying the ps3 does not have games, it really is starting to pick up its pace in that area.

Bubble Buddy3322d ago

Someone give me 60 bucks and I'll be more than happy to buy it. that's the problem: I'm broke. Plus I'm saving up for MGS4, GTA4 etc etc..

Genuine3322d ago

A 6 hour game with no multi-player or replay value. Uncharted is a rental. The people that buy Uncharted at full price need to contact me, I've got some magic beans for sale.

GrooveChampion3322d ago

I'll only add, I wholeheartedly agree, and that multiplayer isn't the only kind of replay value. Multiplayer isn't even the BEST kind of replay value in most games. Uncharted is awesome.

I didn't buy it because it's only 8-10 hours long, has no replay value, and it was November.

Me and 8 of my friends own a PS3, and everytime a hit gets released most of us buy it the same day, but only one of us bought 1 copy of Uncharted and when he finished it i borrowed it, finished it and my other friend borrowed it...etc

All of us agreed it's one hell of an adventure, an amazing game, but not 60$ worth of adventure EACH.

Plus COD4 and Warhawk both took most of our collaborative time since MP's what we play the most.

NEO_X3322d ago

then yeah your right but honestly there is tons of unlockables and extras so im not sure what you mean

DJ3322d ago

There's over a hundred different achievements in the game, and tons of unlockables. Plus the game's fun enough to warrant two or three playthroughs. =]

WisinYandel3322d ago

I, like thousands of people, wont buy this game (BUT WILL RENT IT) because it has no replay value once you complete the game, and its 10-12 hours long.

Think about it... Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted... all of these exclusives are great games but theyre just not worth it because they have no MP whatsoever.

Now Resistance, Motorstorm and Warhawk... THOSE are the type of games that sell because they DO have replay value and good multiplayer.

I Hope Sony Figures This Out and starts publishing good games with MP.

This is why KILLZONE 2, LBP, GT5, and TEKKEN 6 wont flop in sales.

BISHOP-BRASIL3322d ago

@WisinYandel

So I can assume you believe Metal Gear Solid 4 will flop, remember, the online one will come as a separated game.

Maybe you are saying so Devil May Cry will flop. Silent Hill? Resident Evil? God Of War 3? GTA IV? Final Fantasy XIII?

Are you saying me that, from now on, since all consoles have online possibilities (not, a possibility isn't a compromise to handle online mode in every game) any game without online modes will flop?

Don't be innocent, there is a problem in this numbers indeed, Uncharted, online or not, should have sold more than this... But it isn't that big deal. Ico was a great game, but flopped, and not because it was that kind of strange game that only few people like, it was because many people never heard of it untill Shadow Of The Colossus come. They don't heard of it for 3 reasons: Sony don't put the hype. The game was a newcomer while everybody was expecting for MGS2 or FFX or whatever sequel you like. The installbase was too little.

So, it's not rocket science. Just look at Need For Speed Pro Street, it sucks, but many PS3 owners already have played it. And it's normal on that stage, PS3 still not ready to push new franchises. Look at the first Devil May Cry or God Of War, they sold righ, but they come on huge installbase. And also, people don't know games are coming by telepathy, those games have the luck on big installbase again, you heard of it from a friend who have bough it, and say to dozen friends with a PS2, which half of then buy it. But how many PS3 owners most people know to talk about Uncharted? Most people don't spend their days in gaming foruns. And Sony don't helped enough putting ads for it just few time ago, they would have did better if they hyped it since like E3.

PS3 will be allright, since the engage any game on public, just like 360 make with Gears Of Wars, but more propr for 360 for being a newcomer, PS3 will probably get to this point with a sequel as is usual. But 360 also had it's fails before this point.

So, shame on Sony for not being rushing some great named games, which is good, so they don't become crap, but is bad, since they must have started before the console come so been here now. And shame again for not putting ads before... But, aside that, looks just normal to me.

Ju3322d ago

Maybe I am the only one thinking that way. But if you keep playing the "renting game", and not buying games, well, yeah then I agree with the article, you're part of the problem. If you guys like the game and hope there should be an UC2, then more people should buy it. If there is a game worth your investment (not only in the game, but in future titles), then I think its UC. I don't say, don't rent any games. I do, too. But usually I keep what I like, and send the others back. But if you say you are 8 and only one bought it, then the price can't be the argument, IMO.

DONT BUY THIS GAME I BOUGHT IT AND returned it the next day its very repetitive ans has too much cgi cut scenes

wangdiddy823322d ago

Uncharted is a great game to have in your ps3 collection.. And a great game to play

Sayai jin3322d ago

What does Bioshock have to do with this game? No one even mentioned Bioshock.

resistance1003322d ago

@ Sayai jin

Yes but people are commenting on the length of the game

Sayai jin3322d ago

@Resistance

Yes, I do understnd this, but no one mentioned Bioshock. Not downing anyone, but there are some many people here that try to deflect negative news (true or false) to another consoles game. It does not make a really good argument when someone says "Halo 3 campaign is too short, but but Heavinaly Sword's campaign is short too"...or R&C has no online play, but so what Bioshock does not have online gameply either. It's hard to compare two seperate games even if they are in the same genre. The best games to compare are unfurtantely multi-plats. That was my point in my last comment though.

mesh13322d ago

uncharted is 8hrs bioshock is 20hrs big defference
