New Skylanders Spyro's Adventure characters, Cynder and Double Trouble, along with a new adventure pack,Empire of Ice, are now available at major retailers.
This game is the Hot! I told everyone it was going to be a Hit!
No kidding! If they play their cards right, Activision could have the next big crazy on their hands. What's really funny is that the game is actually *good* on every platform it's released on.
It might be a hit but only to kids, like what the Wii was to the casual crowd. I mean they've ruined Spryo in the process, it's got his name in yet it dosen't even look or play like a Spyro game. At the end of the day it's a massive scam, all they are doing is cutting things out of the game and making younger kids bug there parents to waste £6 on a figure (which will be worthless when they milk the series with sequels) and making them pay more for bonus levels and the such which should of already been on the disc to begin with. It's like DLC in disguise. No one should be praising this, I mean it's actually terriable and not just as a Spyro game. I hope to god this dies off so developers today don't get any ideas, look what happened when the DLC idea came around, now it's the worst thing ever since you always have to pay for stuff which should of been on the disc to begin with.
They didn't ruined Spyro, they saved him. Spyro was dying because fans out grew him and that's the truth. Skylanders has made Spyro popular again look at the sales.
Have you played the game? Seriously, it's fun, and there are PLENTY of people - not just kids - who find it engaging and worth the 8 bucks to pay for a character that plays completely differently, which keeps the game feeling fresh. You can bash the business model if you like, but I think the rules are a little different for this. Unlike DLC, these figures actually do something as opposed to just unlock a character - they keep all the stats/upgrades, thus you can use your ACTUAL character on multiple platforms. There's a clear feeling of attachment that people get to the characters they've built up. But whatever, if Spyro is what's important to you, then yeah, I suppose it would be disappointing. Being that this game has sold more copies in 3 months than the entire Legend trilogy did in 6 years, I'd think you'd be happy Spyro was getting any attention at all.
***It might be a hit but only to kids, like what the Wii was to the casual crowd.*** This game is geared towards kids so mission accomplished. How did they ruin Spyro, how long has it been since Spyro was relevant? If anything they brought Spyro back from the dead and made him the star of a popular new IP. You should be thankful as a Spyro fan. "and making them pay more for bonus levels and the such which should of already been on the disc to begin with. It's like DLC in disguise." How is this any different from what's going on with todays games? Or how is it any different from any collectables that children collect? I think this is a great idea and more toys should incorperate this idea. Especially games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblade.
