IGN: Walking carefully through buildings, streets, and trees punctuated the creepy journey through the original Alan Wake. Not knowing what was around the next corner spawned paranoia and fear in anyone stalking through its levels. On the other hand, the limited freedom acted as a safety net. By having a corner to hide around, or a tree to block a line of sight, one could avoid that jump-style scare and simply hold back. Alan Wake's American Nightmare handles this differently.
