The Best Video Game RPGs

LOG: "My liege lord E.D. calls Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim “quite possibly the greatest role-playing video game ever made,” and after reading his review and watching the trailer, I can see why. Alas, the gods of video gaming have not held me in their favor–the last video game I purchased was Final Fantasy XII in 2006–and I regret to say that I won’t be visiting the world of Skyrim anytime soon. Not for want of desire, mind you. My plate is full with…other responsibilities. Someone needs to put out a remake of Planescape: Torment with updated graphics for HD resolutions but change nothing else. Honestly, if you haven't played the game, you're missing out on one of the best RPGs to ever be made and one of the key RPGs that started so much of what we look for in RPGs today with regard to character control, conversation, classes, and development.

surely Morrowind should be right up there. I'm playing the enhanced version on PC for the first time after playing it on the Xbox back in 2003 and it is staggeringly, stunningly BRILLIANT !

I agree with the author on his choices of Vagrant Story and FF Tactics but there have been so many others worth mentioning that were completely absent. Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas although flawed, were all fantastic. The Legend of Dragoon is till one of my favorites and you usually can't have a greatest RPG list without mentioning Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and 10 although, I personally thought 12 was also one of their best. Legend of Mana, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, etc... This list could go on for Paragraphs truthfully.
