StickSkills.com writes, "Reviews for the as-of-today released SoulCalibur V are being published, and so far most reviewers agree that it’s a solid release even though they don’t consider it a 9/10 or 10/10 title."
I don't expect much from the story mode in a fight game.
Really. Fighting games are just about the only genre left that can sustain itself based purely on its gameplay mechanics. To such a degree that many fans of the genre start to foam at the mouth if anyone dares point out that they're only paying for one aspect of a game. But, hey, let's not go there.
If ur playing a fighting game for the story your doing it wrong.
The gameplay is really good but the story mode sucks I was hoping they fix that but no and it even has less content then SC4...really no character bio and no chronicles.
Again ... last time we got a Soulcalibur game with plenty of solo modes and features we got III, easily the worst game in the series. I'd rather they focus on getting the gameplay right first , wich they did And it's story mode is still better than the norm , it just would obviously pales compared to MK9 or Blazblue
One problem I see with story mode is being forced to play as Patroklos. I want to create a custom character and play him in story mode. I don't think that would have been hard for Namco to include. Aside from no character creation mode, Soul Calibur on Dreamcast had a better single player experience IMO.
Was annoying CC id like each of the character to have their own story mode just like IV but what you gonna do... still fun to play. But can someone tell me why Kilik is now Owl man from 4? And changed him with a monkey-like boy? *Note: Owl man can randomly use all the characters different styles and weapons*
Character story for me is pretty important. I can't really praise the Mortal Kombat story much but the reason Smoke, SubZero, Noob Saibot and Scorpion are my favourite characters isn't just because of their kickass moves, they each have pretty deep character storylines.
Originally what attracts me to Soul Calibur was how I can learn more of the character I like from their story mode. It was pretty interesting. (esp you when you can press a button to change the outcome back then) And of coz the extra game mode makes it more fun other than the typical arcade fighting... (might as well just play Street fighter for pure fighting with no reason) 17 yrs passed by, I was hoping to know what happened to the characters I like, but yea.... only get to play Patroklos is pretty disappointing. At least make the story full cinematic scene to make up the space -_-
