So far, so bad. But there is some good news: Do you play "Final Fantasy" solely because of the fighting, the side quests and the scenery, and you are not interested in any way for the story, right here is a rock-solid J-RPG waiting for you.
Reviews seem to be a little mixed with most scores ranging around the 8's. Not bad but not great either.
What I get from the reviews I read so far (and what I saw of the game myself) is that the high scores are fair. The low scores are haters butthurt by Final Fantasy XIII and that can't get over it. It's a good chance to see who is a decent reviewer and who isn't. This one isn't.
Or maybe the low scores are just being honest.
@Gamer-Z: Having the game in my PS3 right this moment, I can easily say: no. They aren't. But they'll definitely please the haters like them.
"What I get from the reviews I read so far (and what I saw of the game myself) is that the high scores are fair. The low scores are haters butthurt by Final Fantasy XIII and that can't get over it" some good unbiased logic there. Maybe you just see what you want to see. I have played FFXIII thought it was rubbish and FFXIII-2 demo seemed slightly better. Still rubbish though. Will be playing final fantasy IV instead as i havent played the originals. You know? a proper final fantasy game?
"The low scores are haters butthurt by Final Fantasy XIII and that can't get over it." and your a butthurt FF13 fan who can't get over the fact that the majority of gamers can see how crap FF13 and the sequel is.
80 percent of scores are in the 7-10 range that isnt mixed mixed would be 1-10 ( REAL SCORES)
It's 6-9 actually. And you do realize the average game is rated a 7 right? I know it sucks, but it's the truth. Anything below a 7 is regarded as not worth paying $60 for. Thus the reason why He said mixed.
And he would be wrong. The average game score is 5. 7 on most sites is good-very good And like I said 80 percent of the scores are 7 or higher. Anything lower has been an outlier for every 1 6 or below score theres 5 8+
Would you buy a 5/10 game? Average is 7 buddy. It's the way sites have been reviewing games for years. A lot of games that people would deem "average" would most likely have a metacritic score in the high 70s or low 80s. Games with '5s' or '50s' are considered rubbish. Yes most cites claim that a 7 is good or very good, but people in generally consider 7 to be average. It's one of the reasons why user scores tend to be lower than critic scores. And majority of 13-2 scores are from 6-9 not 7-10. So it's mixed.
@Outside_ofthe_Box A lot of sites use the middle of the scale as their average, though.
My second worry is that the game will sell well technically, or that Square will just try what they're trying now again with vsXIII. My first worry is that they'll finally realize what it is exactly what they're doing wrong - little attempt to develop story or characters, diversify gameplay - but be unable to fix it.
I'd hope they'd look to 6 through 10 and say "Oh, so that's how it's done. Silly us." Haha, you're probably right Pam. Archer what an awesome show.
They probably do but think "That seems like so much hard work"
"Submitted by Ranma1 28m ago" Nuff Said.
If you look at all of the higher scores it has. It will be submitted by someone else besides Ranma1 and he will be nowhere to be found.
"Do you play "Final Fantasy" solely because of the fighting, the side quests and the scenery, and you are not interested in any way for the story, right here is a rock-solid J-RPG waiting for you.." weird, after awhile that convoluted sentence actually starts to make sense.
