Weeks away from the PS Vita launch, Playstation wants to entice consumers over to the 3G side with a new bundle that includes a memory card. Does this bundle make 3G worth the effort of pre-ordering?
The bundle itself is definitely worth it.
the 3g version is a waste of money imo. -expensive data planes. -downloading caps. -no multiplayer over 3g. -(US people) AT&T exclusive. Basically if you have a smartphone then just tether it to the wifi vita. Plus with tethering you play online, download as much as you want (depends on your phones data plan)
I;ll give you one good reason the 3G is NOT worth it.... at&t...
What is a data planes?
http://n4g.com/news/914162/... Though I still think 3G is not worth it. Especially when most people have a cellphone that can create your own wifi. Im getting the wifi Vita so I save on cash and get some extra games or bigger memory card...Though I wish Sony would do some sort of bundle with the wifi edition already :/
@coltrane_c Planes full of data.
No it's not.. I did preorder the Vita however tricky the pricing..
3G is not worth it and pretty much useless the data plans are extortionate after awhile sony might aswell phase out this alternative.
Yeah, I mean if you are intersted in a 3g version. Overall its a good deal, cosidering what you get with out the box.
not for me since i'm with sprint
Well you can create an account just for the PSVita with AT&T. On Topic: I'm just getting the Wi-Fi version. I just want to play single player games on it. I leave online games on my PS3 and soon, PS4.
The data plans are ridiculously priced and that will be what kills the 3g version. MyWi on my iphone will work fine when im not home so at&t can suck it easy!
In the long run YES. I'm pretty sure Sony put the 3G feature not just only for browsing the web, but for communication purpose too. PLAYSTATION VITA PHONE is bound to set in the future too. I'm actually looking forward to it.
The bundle is worth it. 3G is just stupid.
3G is useless I use an internet stick on my comp when I go away and I always getting messages saying that I am almost over the amount of data I am allowed. I cancelled my internet stick and just stuck with WiFi. The 3G model would eat up the data quickly if your playing a multyplayer game online. And to get a 3 gig data plan for me is like 100 bucks a month. I am getting the WiFi version of the Vita.
3G is shit no matter the carrier especially if you're going to try to play online through it. Hopefully Sony will release a 4G version later on. At least wifi is standard
I've seen some good deals for data plans, but I live in europe where it's not sim locked. We also get wipeout with the 3G version. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/N...
Why didn't Sony make a deal with AT&T to get free 3G to the consumer the same way Amazon did for their 3G Kindles?
Kindles barely use any data. Gamers are going to want to download all kinds of crap.
Im getting the Wi fi so I really dont care about the 3g version
Screw the 3g model the regular wifi version us worth it though... Unless you can slingbox a ps3 game through 3g I don't see much use PLUS 3g data is expensive
It's worth it to me. You can only use the 3g service for stuff like web browsing and skype so if you don't use those alot then no. But I use skype a lot so the 3g will definitely come in handy for me. If not for that I wouldn't be getting the 3g model.
The 3G PSVita would not need to be tethered. To your smartphone because not only would you be running juice from your smartphone but also your vita also at the same time. No need to make a vita phone because Sony already has the xperia line an tablets that's what smartphones an tablets are for. Their for comm mainly gameing 2nd. Sony would have no real use to make the PSVita a smartphone 1st an game machine 2nd. That was the issue with people saying the ps3 was a blu-ray player 1st an game machine 2nd. Then you get people an the media making threads Questioning the viability of what the devices main market your trying to market it in. That's the real point, the PSVita is a mobile game system 1st, there is over 70 games for launch window to 1st year with over 100 more in dev. Smartphones have good games but they are a phone 1st , while the psvita is a game machine 1st. Sony owns their own smartphone manufacturing why would you need a PSVita phone? When Sony already has quick pick up an play gaming on smartphones an tablets for consumers that want just that type of gaming. The psvita also plays those quick pick up an play games but includes unique imputs smartphones an tablets do not have.
bring on the sms app!
I was gonna get the 3G bundle but decided to just get Wifi version instead. I'm getting Uncharted with it and screen protectors. So if I got the 3G bundle it would come to $360 but with just getting the wifi version I can get a 16GB stick, Uncharted and screen protectors for $370. I think trading in the 3G for 16Gb stick is well worth it. Feb 22nd needs to come asap the suspense is killing me. Plus you need to pay for one month of 3G at least $15 in order to get the game and free data.
I my eyes the proposed 3g bundle's is a better value. It comes with not a 4gig card, but an 8gig card instead. Apparently there's also a download game included as well. Regarding 3g functionality, just ignore it if bothers you. While 250mb is rather piddly, just remember no one forcing you to use it.
