Eurogamer: 3DS Circle Pad Pro Review

Eurogamer: Ever since savvy manufacturers realised that gamers were prepared to pay top dollar for pieces of near-useless plastic that claim to improve their gaming experience, there's been a flood of largely pointless peripherals for home consoles. Right now, countless Wii Remote tennis racket attachments sit gathering dust in cupboards the world over, waiting forlornly for that dreaded day when they are unceremoniously recycled as landfill. It should have been designed with a 2nd analog stick. I'm not buying this stupid looking add-on. I already have little use for my 3DS. It's been a big let down thus far.

It really is stupid looking... I want a 3DS... But, I can wait for a second gen version of it, that actually comes with a second pad. Which hopefully Nintendo will do, because if that's not on the 3DS Lite (whatever it may be called) Nintendo is just shooting themselves in the foot. :\

How would they be shooting themselves in the foot if it turns out to be unnecessary?
Only if the slide pad is widely accepted and fully utilized would it be needed in any future revisions, and we are still aways from knowing wether or not this will even be the case.

I got my pad yesterday for res and i can say im impressed with it. It helps with griping the 3ds for games like res.

I dont see nintendo making a 3ds with this built in but i see them selling the 3ds with it and with out it. But anyone who wants res buy it with the extra pad it really adds extra to the game.

Do you think it cheapens the fact that the original controls for survival horror (Resi 1/2/3) were "purposely" clunky to heighten the tension? In other words, is it making the game TOO easy, so as to remove the survival challenge? I heard that the second half of Revelations is more action-oriented anyway.
