Wii U to get individual accounts via new Nintendo Network

XMNR: The online offerings for the Wii were a sticking point with gamers. This was especially true with the use of Friend Codes for individual games instead of a true online identity for users similar to Xbox LIVE and the Playstation Network. Nintendo announced details for the Wii U on Thursday night that puts the online offerings for its next home console on par with Microsoft and Sony

Good Job Nintendo , way to finally catch up with the times...now they need to update the 3DS with the Nintendo Network

Pikajew2515d ago

It already has it. StarFox had it

YES!!!!! Awesome. GO NINTENDO!

Hopefully it's like Steam where you can link games to your account, which allow for your virtual console and Wii Ware games from the Wii to transfer to the Wii U.

Nintendo mean business and everyone who thought Nintendo was a Fisher Price company will soon turn their head, and jump on board... Nintendo do listen to their fans, and that why the Wii U will be a system that the haters will have no choice, but to swallow their pride, acknowledging Nintendo once again...

I agree with you on this one. I was not a massive fan of the Wii and DS but the 3DS is an amazing bit of kit and with games like res Mario 3D and Mario Kart 7 out I can see the big N are trying to get back into the core market again. I am liking the look of the WiiU as well but I still think ill end up using it like my PS3 where I only use it for exclusive games and I will use the next xbox as my main console for everything else. You never know that may change but can wait until Nintendo bring the WiiU out it will be a day 1 for me.

@nelly

Acknowledging what exactly that nintendo makes games? That they a finally decided to enter this gen. That nintendo will actually have character development in all their games for a change, or voiceovers which has been used since ps1 will be used in nintendo games like it's 2012 not 1990.

Some of us look at nintendo games and aren't interested anymore, there is no pride to swallow, maybe stifling a few yawns. How about a relevant story to mario games?

So what about the delusional nintendo lovers, that lose touch with reality, show me gameplay already or shutup. I want to see a "next gen" wiiu game not a ps3/360 port ala darksiders 2.

" Nintendo do listen to their fans" Yeah tell that to the na wii owners that can't play the last story, due to region locking.

"everyone who thought Nintendo was a Fisher Price company will soon turn their head, and jump on board"

Yeah not hardly, ps guys will buy a ps4, ms guys a box next gen, nintendo isn't going to convert many ps or xbox fans that were not already fans of nintendo's games.

Not true. The only people who are Sony guys or MS guys or Nintendo guys are fanboys and thankfully them make up a small margin of actual users. I play games that interest me regardless of the brand on the side of the box. I feel sad for those who continue to waste their time cheer-leading for their favourite team.

I can enjoy Zelda just as much as Little Big Planet or Viva Pinata. I can also have just as much fun playing Mario Kart as Gran Turismo and Forza. People need to get this through their thick heads, games are a form of entertainment. Only a complete moron walks into the video store and says show me the Universal Studios section or show me the Dreamworks video section. One day people will actually talk about games and enjoy them here on N4G instead of all the focus on what platform they are on.

I think the main concern with PS3/X360 fans is hardware. If Nintendo has it this time around then it might convert a bit more than you would expect.

@ madjedi
what a load of crap you sound like a real nintendo hater/fanboy you havent even commented on this topic which is about the nintendo network.
finally entered this gen?
the wiiU is gonna be like a ps3/360 combined in power and from what we are reading is gonna have a bucketload of 3rd party support all wanting to place the big titles on the wiiU?, also the word on the net is there isent going to be a substancial power difference between any console this generation like before
