Don't hate on Skylanders because of its toy-based gameplay. It isn't doing anything shady, it's just expensive.
It's good to see the ideals behind this game defended, I picked the game up a month or so ago and it's alot of fun to play if you have friends over and feel like doing some couch coop.
Skylanders reminds me of Action Figure Man from The Simpsons. What I'm saying is I want there to be a level in this game where Spyro takes you to a store and teaches you the best way to ask your parents to buy you more Skylanders.
This game shouldn't be defended it's crap I feel sorry for my little cousin who gets to a part in the game where he needs another collectable to continue and then my auntie/uncle having to keep buying them for him....I mean they're £6 each. It's the same as us gamers having to buy DLC to unlock content ALREADY on the disc. It's a big scam towards children and parents and the fact that people give it average reviews and then defend it is ridiculous.....look at the bigger picture here, plus the fact a game should be reviewed on what it is..."Skylanders SPYROS adventures".......is this really a Spyro game....nope
thing is, they only need to get one of each element. which is still expensive, but none of the locked areas are keyed to a specific Skylander. Just the element. and, you CAN finish the game with only one Skylander. the main story does not depend on elemental types. not having a corresponding element will only keep you from going into bonus areas.
"and, you CAN finish the game with only one Skylander. the main story does not depend on elemental types. not having a corresponding element will only keep you from going into bonus areas." Yeah but you should be allowed to go to those bonus areas regardless. I bet they take out a pretty big chunk of the game. I don't mind Acitivision doing this...it's their money scam, what I'm ticked off about is the fact they used Spryo for this when it they didn't need to. They've raped that franchise to many times, just like Crash Bandicoot, this was the final nail in Spryos little purple coffin.
Actually, the bonus areas are relatively minor sections, mostly full of puzzles. Completing them unlocks extra items. but they are not vital.
I loved the original trilogy on the PS1, but like Crash Bandicoot the series turned to poo.
Overpriced, just like everything Activision related.
