Resident Evil 6 Co-op: Do it Right, Capcom

MP1st - "Resident Evil 6′s trailer reveal was a nice little late-winter bombshell, and the further affirmation of a mysterious 6-player cooperative mode has many survival-horror fans chomping at the bit. Resident Evil 5 is the highest-selling installment in the franchise, and its exemplary co-op mode has a great deal to do with that. With 2-player split-screen co-op confirmed, as well as the online cooperative game modes supporting 2-6 players, Capcom could have a genre-defining cooperative masterpiece on their hands. IF…they do it right:" (PC, PS3, Resident Evil 6, Xbox 360)

Don't do it, Capcom...too late.

Why is everyone against the six player co op before it is shown off? It is most likely just in the Mercs mode. Sheesh, at least wait for some kind of details before you thrash the company.

LordMe:
Question:"Why is everyone against the six player co- op before it is shown off?"

Answer: Resident evil 5.

- Though it did not have 6 player co-op it did have co-op none the less. I don't think that I need to explain it any more than that but in case you still don't get it: Besides the horror, one of the main keys of survival horror is stacking the odds against the player in creating tension and isolating the player in such an environment and co-op produces the exact opposite of that. The dead space games, silent hill games, every resident evil game before resident evil 4 etc... are perfect examples.

If the co-op is optional, why does it matter?

You people can't form a valid argument to save your lives.

@d3monsoul:

What is the point of survival horror if your chances of survival is 99.9% certain with a group of people, it sort of defeats the purpose of survival horror imo. And besides how do you know that it will be optional, for all we know the game will give you no choice but to play as 6 player co-op like they forced co-op in resident evil 5.

Also, what is this argument that you claim I tried to make? I was simply stating a fact from my experience concerning the survival horror genre as a gamer.

Give us Drop in Co-op with no AI so that people who like to work alone and people who like to travel with friends all win.

If you don't like the online, solo it like a boss!

If you do like online, tag it up with your party!

NO to the suggestion of "ROLES" in mercenaries mode! If you want that play ORC, this Resident Evil 6 (NOT SOME OUTSOURCED DEVELOPED SPIN OFF [HORRIBLE AT THAT]) mercenaries mode, is already set accordingly, each character has a SPECIFIC inventory, (i.e. weapons, healing items, grenades, ammo) with set combinations, suited for that character!

NO again to the merchant from RE:4 being present in mercenaries and or the campaign mode!! This isn't RE:4, it's RE:6, COMPLETELY "NEW" ENTRY!! It would be pointless to put any type of seller into mercenaries mode, you would be able to buy anything, with zombies and other BOW's trying to kill you!

Capcom knows how great RE:5's co-op was (Player/Player, 2 humans) so more than likely their following that same co-op model!! What this article suggest, would actually be horrible if added to the game!

PUMPED that it has 2 player split screen multiplayer again, that was the best way to play the game in my opinion.

games like SSX should take a hint!

It is kind of that sad that I am so excited that a game FINALLY has split screen again.. lol
