Castlevania, the Simpson games, Super Mario Bros 2 and 3, Final Fantasy trilogy, Rush n' Attack, Battletoads, Kirby games, Punch Out...

Mega Man had pretty art style and some of the best music in NES games ever, but the graphics weren't as good as on other games (but that was intended, probably)

The 8 bit days were the absolute best in gaming and anyone who didn't get to experience them just isn't a complete gamer and that's kinda sad...

I absolutely agree! lol...Fun times, so many memories...bubbles up...what do you know about keeping the console on all night just to "save" your place?...lol...blowing on the cartridges and hitting the top or the side of the NES to get it to work...lol...having to give your hands a break from the NES controller hand-cramps...lol...my brother and I were the first kids on the block with Super Mario 3...everybody and their Mama came to the crib that day! lol...just gooood times...thanks Nintendo...and where the heck is Kid Icarus?...he ain't no kid anymore...lol!

of the greatest consoles of all times. Blaster Master and the original Legend of Zelda were probably 2 of my favorite games for NES.

A series that I thought had some really impressive graphics for being 8-bit was the original Ninja Gaiden series on NES. It was the first game I ever played that had mid-level cut scenes.

The NES version of Rygar was really awesome too. It was more of an action RPG hybrid when compared to the arcade version(just action).

Blaster Master is still one of my all-time favorites. If they wouldn't screw it up, I would love to see a next-gen reincarnation of Blaster Master.

bought an NES a few days ago from ebay. Damn, it takes me back to teh good 'ole days of gaming. Even with the Sega Master System out, there werent any fanboys. you would just go to your friends house and play the sega and then he would come over and play the NES. And you could trade your cartridges with your friends that the NES. Now I got Mario 3, Tetris, and Dr Mario.
I am gonna buy Mach Rider, Castlevania, Metroid, Contra, Rad Racer, and Ninga Gaiden to really take me back to my childhood. Those were great times.

it's a time when games were as hard as they can make them. we have been spoiled rotten now. i was trying to play contra on the ds and i couldn't get past level 3. i remember i was a contra master. my skills have rusted with time. and no amount of warhawk or call of duty can bring them back.

I remember Jackel, Commando, Batman, Bionic Commando, Castlevania, Duck Hunt, Flinstones, Elevator action, Pitfall, Blastermaster, Mega Man 2 and 3, Ninja Gainden 2, Life Force, Link, Zelda, Galaga, Snake and Roll, Amagon, Astyanax, Crystalis, Medal Palace, Little Nemo Dreammaster, TMNT, Robocop, Legendary wings, 8 eyes, Contra, Dr. Mario!! my god I can go on and on..lol Nes was my era.

mega man,contra,bionic commando,ninja gaiden,metal gear,castlevania,blaster master,solar jetman,mt punchout,double dribble,tecmo bowl,zelda,super marios,shadow of the ninja,shatterhand,journey to silius,bad news baseball,code name viper,wizards and warriors,ikari warriors,double dragon,battletoads............ i could keep going on awsome games that i still have today.

those were great times and less fanboyism.and you're right jin,even when i got the master system and zillion 2,phantasy star,etc.,no one had problems with your choice of system.

I grew up in the 80s. Though I was more of a Sega Fan. Master System / Genesis FTW :P. Yet I had more than one friend who were more onto the nintendo side, so I actually played through all the majin consoles of the 8 and 16 bit era :)...

Man did I enjoy battletoads, megaman, zelda and the maio series!

... and yes, it was probably the best of times for gaming.

That and the graphic adventure in the early 90s for PC

I really don´t think gaming will ever get better :D

Dark Sniper still plays his NES to this day. Journey to Silius was one of the best underrated games of all time.

Battletoads, even seeing an image of that game reminds me good times, I needed to play 6 months almost everyday in order to defeat Dark Queen, was a ver addictive, difficult and good game!

I sold my Nes 11 years ago but now I want it back, I want to play contra series, SMB and SMB3, Megaman, Metal Gear and Sneak Revenge (Metal gear 2 for NES), Goal, Batman, and alot of more games, will try to get a console this or next month

The reason why it did is because gaming is much more popular now than it was then. The NES had more or less, the biggest cult audience ever. Only because video games were more looked at as a toy than a entertainment device.

If gaming was more popular in the 80's than yes, NES would have killed the PS2 probably.
