Joseph of GAMElitist.com - "Over the last couple of days WiiU rumours have started flaring up all over the place, and I love it."
That wasn't really a rant but ok lol.
I was expecting more of the tired old hammering on the system by idiot elitist fanboys that "it's only this gen" or "it'll be another kiddy console from Fisher Price." I am happy it wasn't one of those.
It's not a kiddy console from Fisher Price. It just isn't any more next gen than the PS3 and 360 with a screen on the controller, just like the Wii wasn't any more next gen than the GameCube. Chronologically, yes. Technically, not so much. You don't need to be an "idiot elitist fanboy", because as a Nintendo fan myself, it wasn't hard to see that the Wii was just a GameCube with motion controls and a nice interface. The Virtual Console was the best part of the system. Anyway, the only problem I have is Nintendo's focus on the gimmicks rather than games. There are several Wii games that could've worked perfectly fine without the need of motion controls. I just wish they'd make it optional instead of forcing you.
"Those who think Wii-U isn't next gen based on unannounced specs and how it won't be as powerful as the other consoles are going to be missing out on a promising device by Nintendo. I assumed "hardcore" gamers owned all systems and played as many various games as there wallet would allow." JBsleek said it
Again, that's not what stops me from buying/playing a Wii/Wii-U. I already explained it on the third paragraph of my previous comment.
Than a rant.
Those who think Wii-U isn't next gen based on unannounced specs and how it won't be as powerful as the other consoles are going to be missing out on a promising device by Nintendo. I assumed "hardcore" gamers owned all systems and played as many various games as there wallet would allow.
Nope. Hardcore gamers are people who nag an throw each other off by being brilliant elitists. Welcome to N4G!
I would like to restate some official words I heard from IBM. Wii U's CPU is based on IBM Watson tech. IBM Watson uses Power7 8 core CPUs. If the Wii U has an 8 core Power 7 CPU. That = 32 threads of computing power then it will feature a true next generation CPU. That is 5 times as powerful as PS3/X360's 6 threaded CPU chips. Which likely puts it on a level playing field to what Microsoft and Sony could ready. That is IF though.
I think Nintendo went form 1 tablet controller to "at least two." Which is fine enough I suppose. I'll be the only one in my house using mine. Works in my favor given that I can only imagine how much one of those friggin' controllers must be worth.
wii-u can bring much needed innovation to all genres on a console. the design is there, lets hope the specs are there.
"hurry up E3"
