Direct2Drive off to an underwhelming (re)start

This holiday season you have a lot of choices when it comes to buying digital PC games. Steam, Amazon, Green Man Gaming, Origin, and others offer holiday sales with PC Games at a deep discount. Missing from this list is the recently sold Gamefly Digital, and it’s going to be difficult spending the holidays without them.

Gamefly eats Direct2Drive, then writes off their customers

Gamefly acquired Direct2Drive and shut them down. However over a month after the transition many customers are still missing the majority of their games. What gives?

I've been dealing with this load of BS for the past week or two. Many of my old CD keys no longer work and Gamefly says I have to download their version of the game in order for it to work, but they are taking their own sweet time in getting our games on their servers so they can be downloaded. Out of the 30 or so games I bought from Direct2Drive for over 5 years, I have access to 5 of them. These are games that I have owned for years now and suddenly I don't have access to my own property. Gamefly has proven to me that they are completely incompetent and will never see a dime of my money. Any complaints are answered in about 3 days time with some generic, copy and paste reply that either gives you instructions that do not work since most of the games are unavailable to just give some sort of excuse about how hard they are working to make our games available. If you ask me, all this mess should have been done behind the scenes before they merged the sites so it would have been seamless and they wouldn't have pissed on all of the D2D customers.

All my games from D2D are "ready for download".
The serials are the same.
Can you name a few games that you can't access anymore?

Elwenil4437d ago

Currently I have access to some "Westward" game that was a freebie from D2D, Sid Meier's Pirates and Railroads, Torchlight and Civilization IV, though the Beyond the Sword expansion is unavailable. From what I can tell I have no access to Neverwinter Nights 2, nor any of the expansions which I bought all of them from D2D, Stronghold Legends, Rainbow Six Vegas 1, GRAW 2, Oblivion and the Shivering Isles expansion, ARMA 1, GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Company of Heroes and all expansions, Supreme Commander, Battleship: Fleet Command, Theater of War, XCOM: UFO Defense, SWKotOR 1, Tropico Reloaded, Medieval 2: Total War and Kingdoms, Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific and Uboat Missions. I'm sure I'm missing a few but those are the ones I can check off from my purchase emails saved from D2D.

I think I might go harass their Twitter feed for a while.

Arma 1 is available to me. I bought it "gold edition" with the arma 2 in the bundle.
I didn't purchase any of your others games. So I can only tell you that this one works for me. I hope they will provide you a solution.

I didn't even realise the change had happened but looking at my titles, all 7 are available to download too. Sorry to the people who're having issues.

I've not had any issues. I feel bad for those affected.

Elwenil4437d ago

Are you able to download all of your D2D games? How many D2D games do you have?

Saryk4437d ago

I have about 32 games on D2D. I'd say that I got 25% of them to GF. I saw this article on FPSguru so had to post it. But anyway what gets me is that I have some Sims 3, but not all, which seems weird. So I have to reinstall SIMS 3 but can't finish it. I can wait, but I wanted to know if others had the same issues....
