Im srry, im not a pc gamer but only 2gb. Aren't ati cards 4gb. So how will this card be better than ati.

TheGameFoxJTV2258d ago

No, and that isn't haw graphics cards work.

I'd have preferred 3GB for 2560x1440 and higher, but nonetheless you can be almost certain that the Kepler GPUs will be faster than the 7000 series, regardless of VRAM.

It's the same old song and dance: AMD/ATI card has better performance per watt and is cooler/more power efficient, Nvidia card goes for performance over power efficiency and winds up having the fastest card, often by a wide enough margin due to better driver support (especially at release).

Ram its not the issue you have gtx 580 with 3gb of Ram!The kepler chipset 680 dont need 3gb because the chip itself is more powerfull than the one AMd is putting on the 7000 series.

LightofDarkness2257d ago

That's not quite true. If you plan on going over 1080p, into the 2560x1440/1600 resolutions with everything on full detail (hi-res textures and anti-aliasing), you NEED about 3GBs of RAM in order to keep things running smoothly. It's not simply about the GPU's ability to process the image faster, it needs the data for that entire image to process it efficiently. 2560x1440/1600 with hi-res textures and anti-aliasing is a very large image and requires a large frame buffer to accommodate it. If you can't squeeze the entire thing into your frambuffer (or you memory bandwidth isn't high enough), your gameplay will slow to a crawl because it will take multiple passes to complete the image/frame.

I hope that's fairly understandable :p.

Ya no 799.99 release price -.-

Animals_as_Leaders2258d ago

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you're an aussie aren;t you wicko?...I just had a look at the 7970 pricing out of interest and it's $799 for one here...for a reference card...

So yeah we need that competition badly.

wicko2258d ago

Nah, I'm Canadian, its 549-599. Not nearly as expensive as it is for you..
