GTA V Will Be Coming To The Wii U

With Strauss Zelnick and his team fully supporting Nintendo's next console, next-gen console based vacancies at Rockstar North for Environmental Artists where a Wii U console is currently residing, and a pushed release date for Max Payne 3, evidence that GTA V will be getting a Wii U release is certainly mounting.

Anyway, this is good news for Nintendo... If true. I imagine it would be a "launch window" title.

And don't say "Mario, Metroid, Zelda" as if each game is the same as the last. Go back and play Mario 64 then go and play Mario Galaxy and you tell me just how similar they are.

The only major franchise bomb that Nintendo suffered recently was Metroid Other M, and ironically that's the only Metroid to attempt to do things differently.

even Apple got a major GTA game ( GTA 3 on iphone ) before Nintendo did and Apple isn't even considered a games hardware developer.

Rockstar said at E3 they will put it on the Wii U. If The Wii U get third party support it may win next gen with its exclusives and the third party games.

The Wii had Bully and Manhunt and the DS has GTA CW. So Rockstar is supporting Nintendo even more

The interview in June is just one factor. If you continue to read the whole piece it goes on to mention several other factors that have occurred since then.

It's also posted under 'Rumour', not 'News'. At no point does this portray that GTA V coming to the Wii U is fact.

the ps3 and xbox 360 versions will have the best graphics/performance, the Wii U is supposed to be 50% more powerful then the ps3 but we all kno thats bulls**t, cause nintendo are not about graphics, theyve only got 360 and ps3 graphics with the wii u now cause everybodys moaning at them about there games looking graphically sh***y and even if it is, nintendo will never use that extra power, thay say the ps3 is so much more powerful, but in reality its not, its more powerful but not that much, so i can see the 360 and ps3 version being better then the Wii U (apart if they use the screen in the controller as the map, then that will be kl)
and also microsoft havent actually said anything about no new console being at E3, they said theyve got nothing to talk about at the moment, which could mean they wont talk about it till E3,only sony has said theres nothing at E3 for them and techinically, the wii u doesnt count as next gen because its this gens graphics and also the controller screen thingys (where u can do something through tv and then swap to controller) been done b4 by Ipad so thats not next gen, so the only next gen consoles (technically) r the next xbox and ps4, its like this gen, (technically) xbxo 360 and ps3 r the only current gen consoles since wii is just a gamecube with a sh***y motions control gimmick

You're a hater... the Final WiiU will be more than 50 percent more powerful... the 360 and PS3 are old so Nintendo can be cheap and make a console MUCH more powerful for cheap... Nintnedo said they are aiming for a different group than casuals... WiiU does count as next gen. You dont even know the specs. the WiiU GTA would be better than the PS# version because controls and better graphics... the WiiU is more powerful than the PS3. 3-5 times more powerful. What do you know about next gen? WiiU is next gen... you know nothign are just talking nonsense because your upset nintendo is getting HD and better graphics than PS3...

im not a hater, i like nintendo, the wii was fun for a few months and there some truly awesomes games on their (super mario galaxy 1+2), but nintendo themselves have said just after E3 that the wii u will be 50% more powerful then the ps3, which i am seriously doubting, and even if it is, they will not use every bit of power, no console does, seriously i would love for nintendo to prove me wrong, its about time they catch up on graphics, and the final wii u specs will be what the leaked specs are, they always r, the wii specs got leaked, nintendo said they wernt the final specs, but they were, same as microsoft and sony, nintendo are always a gen behind the rest in graphics, but gimmick wise like motion control their ahead in, but the tv to controller thing has already been doen by apple with Ipad, please tell me wats so next gen about the wii u

You're completely right though. If any third-party title was going to aid the sales of the Wii U, GTA V is definitely one of them.

O wow, this isnt just a big deal because its going to be the first major nintendo GTA.

This is going to be an even bigger deal considering that the WII U will most likely be the superior console version.
The Wii U version might be the only one that will run on Full HD.

I was planning to get a Wii U, but now i might as well get GTAV for it.
And yes, i strongly believe the WiiU will outdo the current gen consoles in power.
Itl most likely have twice the memory, and its vid card will also be faster then that ones of the current gen consoles.

i said it ages ago when Rockstar had project cafe dev-kits before we knew what project cafe even was plus the rumour was they were developing GTA5 4 this unnamed console then 2 weeks later we all learnt it was WiiU so its obvious Ninty are getting the wallet out as Iwata san said.

WiiU is like 10 times or more capable than ps3.
PC cant even compete with wiiu pc on high settings doesnt use more than quadcore ln any game wiiu has at a minimum 4 core power7 with tons of edram pc dosn't use it wiiu will squash PC.

Powerful depends on what your talking about raw mhz/ghz or graphics/gameplay possibilitys its 10x easy reggie stated them tech demo's were 10% of wiiu power they were 2x easy the ps3's best.

While i agree that the Wii U will have more power then the current gen (theres like a 6 years gap between the consoles) i dont think 10 x is realistic.

Many developers stated that the WiiU will be 40% more powerful then the current gen, which should be about enough to push it to 1080P.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the WiiU specs haven't been confirmed. More to that, the leaked specs say it will have 768 MB of system RAM. PCs have 4GB, and their GPUs have 1.5-3GB at the high end, which is what is necessary to play a game like Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings at 1080p.

You can be sure that AMD won't be giving Nintendo a 7970 equivalent GPU that can run the game @60FPS/1080p for any kind of economical price. They currently retail for $550 on average, which is more than the WiiU will end up costing, you can be sure of that.

Its not necessarily about Nintendo just opening their wallet, its a very big deal for a publisher that's putting out a new game to have the floor on a Nintendo system without competition from Nintendo's own software. Nintendo gave the floor to 3rd parties on the 3ds and they did nothing with it. But I could see Rockstar taking full advantage of this. This game could sell 5million copies on the Wii U by itself in the first year...

I think people are missing the point because if most just believe that from Nintendo's conversations that they were dissatisfied with 3ds launch because their own Mario games weren't at launch then they would be deceived. Nintendo planned the release of their very high profile titles against Sony's PS vita to take the wind out of Vita's sails and it worked. Just look at the games coming out for 3ds in February and March in the western states around Vita's launch here. I think the only thing Nintendo would change is that they didn't have a game like Monster Hunters, Dragon Quest or a major title like that when the system was released. So would they try it again with a very high profile title on the Wii U and then give their games the Holiday season to enjoy sales, I think they absolutely would!

I'm so stoked for the release of GTA V, probably more so than any other VG release to date.

I think it would be really cool to explore GTAV with the Wii U's panoramic viewing (through the tablet-controller)

That being said, none of my (semi-gamer) friends will even consider buying the Wii U (not in the slightest)

I play/buy way more games than them, but i usually try to choose things I know they'll enjoy (so that they'll play with me as much as possible)

Well, this is all a rumor right now, so we don't know for sure that it will be on the Wii U. (Although I wouldn't be surprised if it was.)

Whatever consoles ultimately get it, I don't think we'll see GTA V released much before the Wii U. Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii U will be out before the end of the year, and GTA V was only announced a couple of months ago and still has no confirmed platforms, so we probably won't see it until the third of fourth quarter of 2012. (Plus, Max Payne 3 comes out in May, and Rockstar is unlikely to want its major releases cannibalizing each other.)
