Sakurai: Next Smash Bros. games could take a while; “patience will be rewarded”

Smash Bros. creator gives small update on next games in the series. (3DS, Super Smash Bros., Wii U)

And this is why I say Nintendo simply wanted to pad their announcements at last years E3. They game is only just now about to begin development, and will likely take at least 2-3 years before its released. Why announce it so soon? Like I've said before, that announcement was the equivilant of Sony announcing Uncharted 4 right now, or MS announcing Gears 4. Why would they do that when neither game is releasing anytime soon?

Because it creates hype and suspense and creates more sales. I would think think nintendo knows how to sell their games better than MS and Sony anyway because super Smash Brothers sells alot more than either of those franchises.

They announce it to gather developers and to assemble them to help work on smash brothers

Odd that you have so many disagrees. Your comment is pretty much what Sakurai says in the interview.

Sigh.....I understand why they made the announcement (to hire people for the job) but I still just wish they didn't announce it so early. No it's going to be a pain to wait. Would've been amazing if they announced it at E3 2014 and then said it would launch that same year.

It's probably more likely to see it in 2015. At least that is what I'm guessing.

Eh, I think Brawl had a pretty painful wait, what, with the delays and all.

I think I'll be fine ^_^

"The best fighting game from Sakurai" ??!!

i say in UK i would pay anything up to £349 plus Smash Bros Universe will take less time as the WiiU is like 1000 times more capable than wii so my guess is end of 2013 start of 2014 2 years is all it will take the clothes physics/graphics/gameplay will blow you away going off Brawl WOW.

It will most likely be holiday 2013...or spring 2014. Just not this year or early next year. Nintendo will put all force behind this 10+ million seller.
TruthbeTold  +   1046d ago
I hope it doesn't take TOO long, but as long as he does something similar to the Brawl website with daily updates, it won't sting so bad. And man did that site help build well deserved hype.
