With one of the most anticipated titles of 2008, multiple projects in the works, a game delay, and the departure of Sony's Cory Barlog, God of War: Chains of Olympus developer Ready At Dawn has been in the news a lot lately. So when 1UP visited their offices recently, they didn't run out of things to discuss.
1UP: Now that Sony has named God of War III, I'm curious, how much in the loop with that game are you guys? Is there any back and forth so that some stuff in the PSP game may tie into that game story-wise?
Chains of Olympus director Ru Weerasuriya: The thing is that it's not so much being in the loop as it is when we were working on this game, there were ideas that were thrown out that asked new questions. Every God of War game asks a number of questions that need to be answered at some point or another. We started asking those questions way before there was any talk of another game being done, and those questions are going to be there when this game is done, and the cool thing is that we did it on purpose in a way to set up a lot of stuff. This franchise is actually bigger than these three games, and this franchise is going to go on and show a lot more to the player.
