Relax, The PS Vita Is Doing Just Fine

GamingUnion.net: "One thing that never fails to amaze me when it comes to the gaming fan base is that despite always complaining about a lack or new IPs or tech come out, the second it does rise up from the depths of whatever company is looking to give that kind of concept a chance, everyone starts spitting up bile. Sure the concept may be great, the games may be fun, but somewhere along the line gamers got it into their heads that the only things worth investing in is a product that everyone else has decided to invest first. I'm not really sure when this kind of mentality first came around, but its a stigma that developers have had to deal with for (at the very least) this most recent console generation. Most recently the Vita has been flagged a massive failure for its inability to hit sales numbers as large as the Nintendo 3DS or Snuggies, but taking a look at the bigger picture it's easy to see why. The Vita was never really meant to."

We'll see. It's gonna take more time before we really know.

I agree. I really don't understand all the doomsday talk.

Everyone said the PS3 was doomed - it's doing fine. Everyone said the 3DS was doomed - it's doing fine.

Why does there have to be so much paranoia?

Abash2161d ago (Edited 2161d ago )

With how strong the PlayStation Store is, offering retail Vita games, PSP games, PSN games, DLC, etc. and the Vita's accessories like it's memory cards, I really find it hard for it to not be at least profitable for Sony.

Whether or not the Vita outsells the 3DS, I think it's going to make a lot of money for Sony

LOGICWINS2161d ago

I think that the people who write articles defending the notion that Vita will be successful are just as paranoid as the people who say it will flop.

If what people on the Internet say bothers you so much that you have to write an article about it...then whos the paranoid one?

"Everyone said the PS3 was doomed - it's doing fine. Everyone said the 3DS was doomed - it's doing fine."

The ps3 had to drop the price 2 times within the 1st year before the ps3 started to sale at a desent rate. The 3DS also had to drop its price by almost 40% before the 3DS start doin decent numbers.

@thats_just_prime

This time it is different though. People for the most part feel the price is good where it is. If anything Sony can drop the price of the memory cards and leave the Vita priced right where it is. It has so much more power and potential than the 3DS does technically that you would have to be a moron not see the value in it's price.

"People for the most part feel the price is good where it is."

Who is this "most part" that you speak of? N4G, gaming analysts, or the hand picked crowd of fans at E3 that cheered for a $250 portable gaming console? Contrary to your belief, theres a big world gamers beyond the groups that I just mentioned.

"It has so much more power and potential than the 3DS does technically that you would have to be a moron not see the value in it's price."

Since when did having "more power and potential" than the competition guarantee success? At $600, the PS3 was a better value than the 360 because at the time, Blu-Ray players ALONE costed around $1000.

Yet for someone reason, Sony needed to drop the PS3s price TWICE in its first year on the market in order to attract consumers. Frelyler, why didn't people see the value in a $600 PS3? I'm simply applying YOUR logic.

Fastforward to 2012...almost identical situation(actually a little worse than the PS3s situation since memory cards are required for the bigger Vita titles).

Vita-

Pro: More power/potential/value than the competition.

Con: Happens to be the more expensive than the competition.

A quick price drop for the Vita is a matter of when..not if.

MaxXAttaxX2160d ago (Edited 2160d ago )

Fail.
EVERY SYSTEM has dropped price multiple times.
Not only that, but the PS3 remains the pricier of all systems and it still managed to succeed.

Just buy the damn thing for those who are getting it. Ignor all the other BS. Has nothing to do with defending Sony, and for those who think I have to defend Sony, go somewhere and die.

gaming journalism is much like celebrities gossip news these days.
the bashing and the negative news is what generates more hits and thus more "journalist" claim fail for a product that hasnt been released yet/in the first months of it launch.

hell they already got their mouths shut recently from the 3ds you figure they would learn from that already!

fozzness2161d ago

It is really funny how quickly people forget about things in the Game Industry :P

KeybladeMaster2161d ago

The system will do just fine. I really don't get why "journalist" are so worried that it won't do well. Easy hits I guess...

MasterCornholio2161d ago

I personally believe that while the Vita will not outsell the 3DS it will do just fine.
