Dan gives his opinion on how we should be trying to define games on the basis of their artistic merits.
nice pic, heavy rain was a great game, it was art.
The main flaw in this entire argument is that it speaks about whether or not video games should be considered as art strictly based on story and the way it relates to the gameplay. Unfortunately, it goes well beyond that. How about all the designing that went into the creation of the characters, the environment, the costumes, the lighting, the sounds. Those are all created by "artists" and therefore the final product should be considered as art, the same way a film is considered as art.
