When PlayStation Vita launches next month, one item that every gamer is going to need to buy for storing PSN downloads, game saves and personal media, is Sony’s new proprietary memory card.
Doesn't matter to me because A) I've ordered a 16GB Memory Card and B) Unless I have to, I'm not buying my games via DD except for PSP games that I didn't try on my PSP unit.
I'm prolly gonna wait for someone to make generic vita memory cards for half the price. DD vita games are cheaper than at retail. Think I might go all DD for my vita. So much more convenient.
lol i herd they wont be any generic ones
Well if you were planning on buying full games from the store, you'd probably have the sense and money (Digital games are often more expensive than in stores) to buy a large card.
Actually Sony said that DD will be much cheaper than retail.
In Japan many titles are 20-30% cheaper than retail ones which is why I will buy only digital copies. But I might buy a retail one just to have the slot occupied. XperiaRay
I'd like to hear conformation about that Golden Abyss number, since the Japanese version is 2.7GB I wonder what they added to make it a half gig larger.
weird, the JP version was only around 2.7 GB with 2 audio tracks. Guess they western release will have more.
This is why I dont like digital distribution. Physical copies please so I dont have to waste massive memory card/hard drive space on the actual games.
Exactly, the amount of games that can be saved with 3.5 gigs is way more than 1 game only. Also instead of just games you have space for music and movies; which I actually use it for too.
"That means our 16GB card, which will cost £39.99 to buy at launch, is only going to host a handful of quality games before we’re forced to either buy an additional memory card, or purchase physical copies, which will be sold at a premium price" You can just delete a game once you're done with it to make space for another one. You can always re-download it at anytime so you're not forced to get another memory card. As for Golden Abyss the Japanese Version is 2.7 GB. I know that version had many languages so could this one being 3.5 GB mean that it's been improved or probably just additional languages? I know the Japanese version wasn't running at native res so who knows, they might have improved it?
or backup games to ps3
would be nice if they did an sku with built in flash memory: 64GB
Il get a 32 GB, and back data up on my pc, and switch the data required. Just like i do with other media devices that i use.
Memory Cards at the ready? Who wrote this a 10 year old?
@Ddouble "You can just delete a game once you're done with it to make space for another one. You can always re-download it at anytime so you're not forced to get another memory card." Wasn't that the argument of DD? having access to all your games at once?
Meh I am going to blow off the gift card that I won from N4G on a 32GB memory stick. XperiaRay
And how, may I ask did u win a gift card from N4G?
He won the flash game "Shoot the Fanboy" on N4G home page. He took out 400 fanboys in 10 seconds.
Memory cards are expensive, but if the DD version of games are cheaper, than the memory card will be offset after several game purchases. If each DD game is $10 cheaper than retail my 32GB memory card will be paid for after 10 game purchases. Not bad in my eyes, just the initial expense will be greater. And lets face it, if your buying one at launch (like me) then money is likely not an issue for you anyway.
