Alone in the Dark is a game that has spent serious time in development - and, eventually, all the early hype surrounding it has ever so slowly trickled away... but, we said it before and we'll say it again, that's a damn shame because, put simply, the game is shaping up to be a cracker. Forget Alan Wake, forget Silent Hill 5, forget even Resident Evil 5 - this really could be the hidden gem of next-gen horror gaming… so we've donned our boots and delved back into a distinctly un-American Central Park - all 842 acres of it!
The new Alone in the Dark remake doesn't do anything especially noteworthy, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just... cromulent.
The original Alone in the Dark - hailing all the way back from 1992 - is re-imagined with Unreal Engine 4. The story and puzzle elements are dramatically overhauled, where PS5, Series X and S strive for 60fps gameplay in a decent performance mode. However there are technical rough points to this release which detract from what could be a much better game.
series S performance mode, 800x450p - 1600-900p
so NEVER hits 1080, and goes as low as a ps2.

I will be the 1st to say that a great game
but this game not good needed better development - not sure if the dev's were rush or just needed direction ?
either way no biggies as there has not been a good alone in the dark in many many many years.
@ROCKY28 I loved The New Nightmare, that was 25 years ago. But I still wanted this to be good.
Is anyone surprised? It's looked bad the entire time and only apologists say nice things about it.
Some of the environments had a chilling atmosphere. But that evaporates when anything happens.

are just few gray scaled trees and a dude with a first aid flamethrower?
This game constantly keeps going under my radar, I sometimes forget just how many freaking awesome games we're getting next year. 2008 is actually going to be the best year for games in a LONG time.

AITD WILL be scary as hell. I Don't think it would top all other 3 of those games, but it will certainly be equal. The first AITD was scary as can be, might not seem that way now because of all the graphics enhancements, but at that time it was the eeriest game out. Mark my words, this game will OWN.
