Gaikai to Dominate Cloud Gaming, Steal Growth from Consoles, says Analyst

Physical software sales have been in decline, and it's not clear if or when they'll pick up again. EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich forecasts that the HD gaming market will remain essentially flat through 2015, in part because cloud gaming firms like Gaikai will be taking away any potential growth from consoles, he told IndustryGamers.

Who are these analysts, and what the hell are they analyzing? It's obviously not the gaming industry, as they keep coming up with these asinine ideas for where they think gaming is headed.

Don't forget OTOY. Also coming in 2012/2013. Cloud gaming platform.

Cloud vs. Console vs. PC/Mac is interesting. Funny thing is article says 2-3 platforms. We have 3 console platforms, 2 Computing platforms, 3 Digital platforms, 1 current Cloud platform on the market. Doesn't look like any of them are going to disappear anytime soon.

Thing is these Cloud platforms can exist on any other platform technically. Imagine Xbox 3 having OTOY, Your PC/Mac having it as well, Your phone also having it. Same game, same graphics, same gamedata saves, same platform. This is why cloud platforms will grow.

Bandwidth I still see a problem at least for 10 more years for some areas. I don't expect Cloud platforms to grow much until 2020 or later.
