Finally, a list I can agree with. Glad to see UC3, Batman, and Portal 2 garner so many nominations. I even saw Ghost Trick and The Witcher 2 in there. Very nice list. The only thing I strongy disagree with is LA Noire's nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Story and Sound Design, which Portal 2 deserved.

Anyways, here's the weight of nominations:

(12) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
(10) Portal 2
(09) L.A. Noire
(07) Batman: Arkham City
(06) Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
(05) Battlefield 3
(04) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
(03) Bastion
(03) The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
(03) Little Big Planet 2
(03) Skylander's Spyro Adventures
(02) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
(02) Gears of War 3

(01) The Sims Social
(01) Super Mario 3D Land
(01) Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
(01) Tentacles
(01) Tiny Wings
(01) Total War: Shogun 2
(01) Toy Soldiers: Cold War
(01) Triple Town
(01) Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
(01) Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
(01) Where's My Water?

I think that's everything. Let me know otherwise. Lots of variety, but less among the main categories. Hence all the nominations for the top 5. I'm surprised to see Dead Space 2 and inFamous 2 didn't get very many nominations. And Catherine didn't garner a single one. o_O

Yeah.. me to.

I hope the AIAS does not pull a bullshit move like the VGA'S did... nominating Skyrim for 3 categories only and still giving it GOTY....

Even though it was not nominated as a best game on this platform award.... I mean... huh?

Skyrim should win a few awards.... but not every category it was nominated for. Some games did a way better job in that category than Skyrim.

Since this is my last bubble and I don't want everyone to get the wrong idea I will explain

Story: Honestly.... the main quest of Skyrim was kind of meh... and all the companion quests follow the same plot points.

1) Start as rookie
2) Discover new power
3) Gain new power
4) Someone in the guild does something stupid or betrays you
5) Leader of guild is killed
6) Get revenge for the leader
7) Become leader of the guild

All of them followed this format except for the civil war quests. Also... I really could not care for most if not all of the characters in Skyrim. No one was really likable except for Paarthanax, but yeah thats it. A real shame as I love RPGs with stories.

Uncharted and Portal did a better story job than Skyrim so I hope one of them wins

Role Playing Game: Depends on tastes.... I prefered Deus Ex.. I also hear good things about the Witcher 2... I don't have that decent of a rig... so must wait for a PS3 port (eventually)

Innovation: Did Skyrim actually innovate? Or just improve upon the already good Elder Scrolls formula established in Morrowind? I would say L.A Noire as no other game has never done something like this, or even Portal 2, although similar to one, there is no other experience like that on the market

Gameplay Engineering: Maybe... their are a lot of ways to play Skyrim... but I would give it to Zelda or Portal... just had more satifaction to it I guess

Game direction: When a game does not work on one console... I question how you are even nominated in this category. All others deserve it more.

Game of the Year: When you make a game requiring 4 patches to work and also release a broken port for one system that is infuriating to play... I still get annoyed when ever it gets nominated, and pissed when it Wins GOTY. All the other games to me deserve it more

Anyways.... people are free to disagree with me... just my opinion. But it is a fact that Skyrim is broken on Ps3.

I don't hate it... just hate the fact that it is not the game I was hoping for

Congrads to Naughty Dog.... again.... lol.

These guys win all of the industry awards. These guys need to take a year off so someone else can win awards lol.

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 2 came out in the same year.

I think the AIAS awards is one of the most reputable awards in the gaming industry

P_Bomb2049d ago

It is.

Been around since 1996, over 20,000 members, board of directors are all industry professionals including reps from Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo and even the ESRB. Corporate members include AAA publishers and indys. It's not a fanboy top 10 list or Spike TV kinda deal.

thehusbo2049d ago

Well deserved. Great game by one of the greatest companies around :)

Why o why2049d ago

Well done naughty dog. Hard work is proprer being recognised.

JaredH2049d ago (Edited 2049d ago )

Dragon Age 2 definitely deserves to be nominated for and hopefully win Outstanding Achievement in Online Game Play.

Edit - Since I got a disagree is it not a typo for being under that category or can no one understand sarcasm?

From a one minute search the category is actually achievement in online connectivity. That comes from the actual press release too and not some random site looking for hits.
