YouTube user kurekureyon wanted to see for himself which had the longer battery life: PlayStation Vita or Nintendo 3DS?
to those, who say that 3D isn't enabled on 3DS already, remember that 3DS two screens are already working now.. sure it's not as powerful as Vita and screens are smaller, but I'm alright about 3DS battery already, because I play mostly at home with it.. so both batteries are doing alright
With 3D off? Hmm Still, both screens have less resolution than the Vita's combined and the system is overall less powerful, so it requires less power and whatnot. 4+ hours is more than enough play time while you're outside. Phones wouldn't last this long running a game like this. 9 or so hours of music is pretty good as well.
Ya so true, smartphones don't got nothing on the Vita! and my god! the graphics, colour and smooth gameplay looks amazing on this thing! Damn, I can't help but like the retro game beat he used Hahaha!
That's the Chocobo theme from Final Fantasy.
what? you can't turn the 3D off to demonstrate the battery lasts longer. this is getting stupid. it's called a 3Ds for a reason.
Just for occasions like these.
The guy just should have left the games on with out playing it.
WHY it shows there both runing
hahah WUT DID you exspect
I think it's a bit more difficult than this to gauge power consumption. Putting both on max settings isn't necessarily fair because the vita has higher output than the 3ds. Oh yea and the 3d isn't all the way on on the 3DS...
I doubt anyone will play with the 3D all the way up anyways. The best setting for most people is down low so they can actually see the effect of it.
Does this really matter to anyone? Shouldn't which has more game I want be more important?
3D off? haha okok
goddamn that screen is beautiful
Actually if you play a game like Devil Survivor: Overclocked you can get over 5 hours of juice out of the 3DS. Granted, there's hardly ever any 3D in the game (all I can seem to recall is the opening and the fusing of demons cutscene thing).
With the NGP (the better name IMO) being the all around higher spec handheld system then the 3DS (lower spec) of course it would drain the battery faster. The only thing I learned from watching this (only saw about 1:30sec) was how gorgeous the NGP screen looks. 3DS screen looks ultra tiny. Low FPS play on the 3DS too.
it's just like psp vs ds
At least not with the battery life. The DS kicked the PSPs butt when it came to that. With the PSP lasting as long as the Vita and the DS clocking in at 8 hours. The DS was great for me because I could go a whole week without charging it. I wonder why Nintendo couldn't have pulled the same with the 3DS in terms of battery life? XperiaRay
@above the psp had a umd drive to run which consumes ALOT of power.. The ds was a low res, low power handheld with cart driven games.. Its common sense why the ds had long battery life.. But the vita has a cart system as well but it also has a 5" OLED screen.. so the loss of a umd drive is compensated by a larger bright touch screen.. THe 3ds has a shorter battery life compared to the ds because of the 3d effects and it has slightly higher specs then the ds...
Not sure what config he used on the Vita but the 3DS had 3D effect off, brightness set to the lowest (1 out 5)possible setting and energy saving turned on . The 3DS is a very fun machine to play with it regardless the lack of second analog stick and small battery life. So far I can play for about 3 hours and a half of MK7 online with 3D effect and brightness on max. The battery life of the 3DS is not that bad really. I think the major difference bettewn the Vita X 3DS in terms of battery power is that it takes longer to recharge it on the 3DS. But besides MK7 and SM3dLand I am still disappointed with my 3DS library of games. I have no doubt that in 6 months after the Vita is launched world wide it will have so many awesome games that my 3DS will be getting dust ...
Vita's 4 hours aren't bad compared to the 5 hours of the 3DS.
so please remind me what is the point of having a 3ds if you turn the 3d off??
Good point. Now if you'll excuse me. I'll go play some Mario 3D Land on my DS Lite.
3D off LOL
battery life doesn't bother me, he should have all the power saving enabled on the vita tho, if he wants the test to be fair...
i still think the vita wins the 3d effect was off or on low on the 3ds, the vita is a beast of a handheld 4hours isnt bad @ all.
The comparisons really have been a mixed bag. But in this Video he should have turned on powersaving mode on the Vita since the 3DS has it on. http://www.youtube.com/watc... In this both are playing the game at max settings with 3D off on the 3DS and the Vita manages to last 47 minutes longer than it. Which brings me to the conclusion that they have roughly the same battery life. I am pretty impressed that th ee Vita which is a lot more powerful than the 3DS manages to last just as long as Nintendos handheld. The 3DS in my opinion should have lasted 2 to 3 hours longer than the Vita. XperiaRay
go on youtube and find skyghene22, he has a battery test and with everything maxed out he got 4 hours and 23 min and over 6 hours with blutooth off and 50% brightness. he got barly 3 hours with 3ds on max..and yes the 3D drains ALOT of the batery so when doing a battery test ofc u have 3d on or it won't be a fair test
just one thing i would like to know.. why the vita is on before the starting the test and the 3ds is off?.. thats weird...
Are you people blind both 3ds and vita were on their lowest setting that includes 3d off o.o...... 3ds lasted longer o.o
3DS is using powersaving and 3D is off.
