Kotaku: "Unit 13" Proves That PS-Vita Can Deliver Full-Console Experience in the Palms of Your Hands

Kotaku: People love Nathan Drake. And it's safe to say that Uncharted: Golden Abyss will be the premiere adventure title for the Vita. However, it's looking like Unit 13—from Zipper Interactive, the developer behind SOCOM and MAG—will be the one you'll want to sate that thirst for Rainbow Six-style antics.

The story is too old to be commented.

....No team death match...I'll pass.

How many times in how many games do you want to play tdm?!

Bach2326d ago (Edited 2326d ago )

I personally only need TDM in shooters. I enjoy competitive modes more than co-op. That's just me.

It certainly looks impressive. If they can get the controls right (Hardest things to get right on a portable device), then I'll buy it!

The Vita has full-buttons and dual-analog sticks, plus a touch-screen and a touch pad on the back. I'm sure they'll figure out some way to make this work.

Furthermore, it just proves why serious gaming on an iPhone or other touchscreen-only device can never compete as far as a full-on experience goes. I tried playing GTA:III on an Android phone the other day, and without a paired controller, it was just awkward and counter-intuitive.

I'll stick to casual gaming on phones, and serious gaming on PSP.

GTA is best playe ed on a Xperia play on the go. U may as well stick to a console at home if u are going to pair a controller

Fishy Fingers2326d ago (Edited 2326d ago )

Standard controls should be no more difficult than a a PS3 game, as you have the same inputs as a dualshock. Obviously the added touch screen(s) and whatnot might not be the same story.

But really, the only reason previous handhelds have had issues is becausae some fool in the development stage said one analog stick would be enough :/

Edit: Bah, should refresh before replying.

Sounds promising because it seems like the perfect experience for mobile 'hardcore' gaming i.e. a hardcore 3rd person shooter with design choices for mobile gaming

Check out the new Unit 13 gameplay vid on the PS Blog. It looks very promising. I'll probably get this and ModNation Racers.

For me a big part of my gaming experience is playing on a "50 tv with surround sound. Which is for me a reason why the vita will never be able to offer me a "full" console experience.

@ peeps, I don't quite understand what you mean there

As for the controls, I'm sure people will use them fine but I cannot imaging them being as comfortable as a controller, controllers are designed to sit in your hands comfortably where as this not so much.

The play station vita looks really impressive but in my eyes it's the same old psp just upgraded and it doesn't appeal to me and I'm sure for some others.
