GTA's Got Nothing On Yakuza 3 - Hidden Gems

GamingUnion: "Even though the first two Yakuza games had a secure place in the PlayStation 2's library, fans had to fight to see a release for Yakuza 3 on the PlayStation 3. For a long time, they believed it wouldn't happen, but Sega did relent and brought the game to western shores over a year after the Japanese release. This wasn't without cost though, as Sega decided to cut content out in order to facilitate the move."

Its pretty cheap now. You can pick it up for like 15 bucks or so. Well worth the price tag.

Yakuza 4 > Yakuza 3 > Faeces > GTA IV

Yakuza 2 > Yakuza 4 > Yakuza > Yakuza 3. Love the series, looking forward to seeing Yakuza 5 in the future.

While I prefer the Yakuza games over GTA comparing the two just doesn't seem fair. Kazuma is a former Yakuza who lives based on honor and respect, while most of the characters in GTA have no real concept of honor.

In Yakuza 3, some of the sidequests involve catching a purse snatcher, helping the orphans with their problems, and preventing a man from committing suicide. I don't think you'd see any of these quests in a GTA game. That doesn't meant that GTA isn't a good game, but it's just a different take on organized crime compared to the Yakuza series.

The Yakuza series is similar to The Godfather, at least in the Corleone's original plan of protecting the neighborhood and not doing anything dishonorable, while GTA is more like Scarface(1983).
