Which publisher wins 2007? Who has delivered the best games?

Games Radar finds out who has delivered the best games in the last year:

"This year has left us absolutely knackered. We're exhausted. We feel like we've been in a marathon. A marathon that involves mostly sitting on our arses and playing one incredible game after another. We could indulge you with a long list of stellar examples, but you're a gamer - you know that it's been a properly arousing 12 months. If you're anything like us, your wow glands will be swollen and you'll have blisters on your eyeballs. It's been that good.

So as gamers we're all winners (yay!), but what about the publishers - which software peddler walks away from 2007 with the fancy ribbon pinned proudly to their sparkly spandex lapel? Well, we thought it'd be fun to find out. By laboriously slogging our way through Metacritic, we've taken review scores for all the games released by the big players in 2007, added them together and - by using the magic of mathematics - worked out the average score for each publisher. A simple concept, but an absolute bitch-field of numerical hardship to collate."

An interesting little read. Considering how many review scores for Sony's exclusives angered a lot of gamers on here, they didn't do half bad overall! Imagine if GameSpot weren't so harsh; they'd probably be first! lol ;)

I do think the industry relies too heavily on review scores though. At the end of the day, they're just opinions of an individual(s) and too much is based on them. Why can't we make up our own minds on what is and isn't AAA?

How about this for a crazy idea (bear with me!). What if reviewers stop giving scores and just put pro's and con's along with their opinion? At the end of the day, it's meant to be their opinion on a product, but why must we have a score? Why not just a good read with a summary of pro's and con's?

2 great games in one year (well maybe just over). RFOM and R&C, anyonther developer manage 2 90+ games in 1 year?

Ratchet & Clank: 89%
Resistance: 86%

Why do you have to lie for?

In North America RFOM was released last year, but I agree both are killer games. Insomniac was one of the main reasons I bought a PS3

I don't agree with how they rated each publisher. It doesn't take into account how many games a publisher releases each year and gives an unfair advantage to publishers that only release a couple of titles a year (ie Nintendo).

Some of my favorite games releases this year came from publishers who scored 60 or lower.

Of course it takes in account the number of games, learn about "arithmetic mean".

nintendo should win for the attention the wii is getting for including everyone and especially for the ds.. but if not then microsoft should win...they had great games this year
